With Sergio missing camp and possibly the pre-season through early season, who's going to take advantage of the situation, and show what they can do as a pass rusher?

Kruger was a strong pass rusher in college and wants to continue to be a rusher from the end position. Will he make the adjustment andget to the quarterback more?

Antwan Barnes was spoken very highly of during OTA's by Ted Monachino and Greg Mattison. He's said to have gotten quicker, and the coaches say he has improved.

McClain was a skilled pass rusher in the 08-09 season and played more OLB while Suggs was injured. He was not as succesful at his new position as an ILB. Will he be moved back outside?

Or will another player step up? We drafted Arthur Jones who showed an ability to pass rush at the college level. Ngata has said pass rushing will be a new focus for him, he has the ability to do so. Terrence Cody was drafted to stop the run and take up blocks, but during OTA's he apparently showed himself as a pass rusher.

Who will make an impact in the pass rush, in Kindle's place?

with the whole next man up attitude it will be interesting to see who steps up,I voted Kruger to give us that push for pass rush and I hope I am right.Kruger homer since day one I know they play different positions but I just want to see Kruger inflict some nightmares for QB's

It's only training camp, there's been no indication that Kindle will be an extended period of time (unless something has changed in the past few hours). Kindle might miss some camp, but in the long run, for this season, I don't think he'll be too adversely affected.

With the fractured skull it is hard to tell, and no one in the office has spoken to him as of yet.He will miss all of camp, but hope he will be healthy for a few preseaon games at least.Time will tell and I pray he is healthy enough to return sooner than later

Well since Kruger is playing DE it's not him. And since I haven't heard McClain's name since 2008, I would suggest it would be Barnes.

According to this article on the homepage, Kindle might not be ready by the Jets game.

http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2010/07/26/kindle-will-miss-training-camp/

And with a head injury like what he has, rushing him back to action would be dangerous, espcially playing Linebacker.

It was JJ's position to lose, Kindle is a rookie who would most likely be holding a clipboard.

I picked Kruger, wasn't sure if op was suggesting the same position or who would step up and be the pass rush we need,if it's postion I agree with Barnes,if it's rusher I feel Kruger

I brought up Kruger because he's a pass rusher, that could make an impact in Kindle's absence.

Also, in the article posted above it's stated that Jameel will get reps in place of Sergio.

Last I read (which was yesterday), he had only swelling in his skull, so I was unaware of his fractured skull. Shame, hope he recovers quickly. As sad as it is, it's still a small bump in his pro-career. Falling down two flights of stairs, he's lucky it wasn't something major (not saying that a fractured skull isn't).

The competition to be J.J.'s back-up will be between Barnes and McClain. Kruger put on weight to become a DE and Phillips is an ILB who didn't rush the QB much at TCU.

I really don't know win the job between Barnes and McClain but it should make for an interesting battle.

I guess what I think people are missing is I don't really think Kindle was going to be a starter from Jump Street, so It's really next man up...we have plenty of guys that could have potentially been in front of him.

Good thing about being a Ravens fan - we have depth and options to cover this injury. So many teams would be counting on Kindle to start straight away; yet this speaks volumes to the depth of our squad.

Yeah I know man, I wasn't knocking the poll or anything but I was merely saying look at Barnes numbers last couple of games. If we were going off of 2008 season, i would of said Jameel.

Well to clarify one thing, the topic, if you read it correctly, was "who will make an impact in the pass rush, in place of Kindle?" Not once did I mention who will be JJ's new backup. No, I was not stating Kindle would start. I'm referring to pass rush situations. Please actually read the topic. Next, Kruger could still make an impact in the pass rush. Phillips wasn't mentioned in this topic so i dunno where that even came from.

Again, the topic is pass rushing impact, not OLB back up.

Also I dont know how much playing time Kruger will be getting with Redding and Pryce in the mix.

Yeah Barnes got 3 sacks in last 4 games last year.

I think our Linebacking corps is one of our huge strengths. Sucks Kindle is down but there are a lot of guys that can help on our pass rush if Mattison gets an imagination haha.

Who knows about Kruger. I know he's backing up Pryce, but heck, he might get playing time at RE if Ngata needs a break, or perhaps on a passing down.

I agree, our LB core is insane. Many could be starters on other teams IMO.

Yeah, there are a lot of guys that could help.

I'm thinking that Barnes will step up the most between him and McClain. He's got more athletic ability and more playing time. Kruger is playing DE so don't believe he'll be doing what Kindle would have been. I'm hoping that Kindle will be ready for the regular season. In the mean time, rest up and stay away from STAIRS!

I don't know, a rookie missing all of training camp seems like it could be pretty significant to me.

I've heard that Jason LaCanfora suspects he might start the year on the PUP list or even miss the entire season, but I'm still looking into that one.

As for who is the next man up, I'm still waiting for Kruger to become all that I'd hoped he would be.

With respect to Kindles' injury, head injuries are the scariest of all injuries. It's important for him to be fully healed before returning to a sport as violent as this. The fracture, as with any broken bone takes time to mend so I wouldn't expect to see him until later in the season. It's unfortunate, but more important for him to get healthy before coming back.

Kindle wasn't the starter to begin with. Look for Barnes as an extra pass rusher, but JJ is our starting OLB. Period.

Ummmm... the topic is not about the OLB position, its about making an impact in the pass rush in Kindle's absence. :readthethread:

I love how you edited the poll and thread and then began telling everyone else to read it again.

We're discussing who the next man will be now that Kindle is down. Kruger is a DE so it won't be him.
