Mock Drafts On Yahoo

23 posts in this topic

I'm sure many of you already know, but you can do mock drafts at yahoosports.com, so I thought it would be cool to post some of the teams you've put together and it will give us something to talk about..

I've done a ton of them, but this is the last team I drafted:

(10 team league and I had the 6th pick)

QBs: (4)Schaub / (12)Flacco
RBs: (1)Gore / (3)D. Williams / (8)Addai / (9)Forte / (13)A. Bradshaw
WRs: (2)Calvin Johnson / (5)Bowe / (7)Sims-Walker / (10)B. Edwards / (11)M. Floyd / (15)Breaston
TE: (6)Witten
K: n/a
DEF: (14)Philly

Great team. You've got proven producers, upside where there isn't a track record and quality depth.

I use CBSsportsline to do mock drafts. And I've done about 35 of them so far. They are all 12 team snake drafts.

This would have to be my best team handsdown (In terms of starters)

Matt Ryan QB
Joseph Addai RB
Frank Gore RB
Brandon MarshallWR
Santana Moss WR
Reggie Wayne WR
Jason Witten TE
Jeff Reed K
Chargers DST
Donovan McNabb QB
Brandon Jacobs RB
Laurence Maroney
Dez Bryant WR
Braylon Edwards WR

Off to a great start with your first 4 picks, but I think you overpaid on 5 and 6. I see Flacco usually going between rounds 7 and 9, and Miller generally going in the 9-10 range. If you don't go with an elite QB in the early rounds, there's pretty good value in the 7th through 9th. Flacco has some big play ability, but as long as the Ravens D continues to be stout the offensive play calling won't really allow him to put up huge numbers. If your heart is set on Flacco then you gotta get your man, but one of those mid tier QBs will still be there 4 rounds later.

Steve Slaton in the 11th would bring major upside. Vernon Davis in the 5th would be good value too.

I just did a draft with the number 5 overall pick. Didn't do too bad, although I took too much time on one picked and ended up with David Akers when I was thinking about drafting Chaz Schilens:

1. Frank Gore
2. Brandon Marshall
3. Greg Jennings
4. Felix Jones
5. Eli Manning
6. Owen Daniels
7. Dez Bryant
8. Carnell Williams
9. Ben Tate
10. Austin Collie
11. Chad Henne
12. David Akers
13. Brandon LaFell
14. Jermaine Gresham
15. Bengals D/ST

Which would make my team look like:

QB - E. Manning, Henne
RB - Gore, F. Jones, C. Williams, Tate
WR - Marshall, Jennings, Bryant, Collie, LaFell
TE - Daniels - Gresham
D/ST - Cincinnati
K - Akers

Not too bad.

Just finished another 14-team draft with the 2nd pick. I'm actually pretty satisfied with it:

1. Adrian Peterson
2. Greg Jennings
3. Cedric Benson
4. Hakeem Nicks
5. Hines Ward
6. Joe Flacco
7. Visanthe Shiancoe
8. Ricky Williams
9. Mohamed Massaquoi
10. Donovan McNabb
11. Lee Evans
12. Willis McGahee
13. Jeremy Shockey
14. Jay Feely
15. Bengals D/ST

QB: Flacco - McNabb
RB: Peterson - Benson - Williams - McGahee
WR: Jennings - Nicks - Ward - Evans - Massaquoi
TE: Shiancoe - Shockey
D/ST: Cincinnati
K: Feely

Not bad at all, wouldn't be upset if that was my actual FF team for a league.

I just finished one up I really like... 10 teams, I had the 7th pick

1. Michael Turner
2. Drew Brees
3. Larry Fitzgerald
4. Anquan Boldin
5. Beanie Wells
6. Wes Welker
7. Jahvid Best
8. Marion Barber
9. Brandon Jacobs
10. Brett Favre
11. T.J. Housh
12. Justin Forsett
13. John Carlson
14. Miami Defense
15. Mike Williams (TB)

so...

QB: Brees, Favre
RB: Turner, Wells, Best, Barber, Jacobs, Forsett
WR: Fitzgerald, Boldin, Welker, Houshmandzadeh, Williams
TE: Carlson
D: Miami (who play Buffalo week 1)
K: none

I went a little RB crazy, but I thought the value was good... If Favre comes back, which I think he will, he'll offer good trade bait, too. I'd like to have a more consistent TE, but I think Carlson will actually do pretty well this year. If this were a real team, I'd try and use my RBs and Favre for a better TE or WR depth. I've been taking Miami D and Mike Williams in the 14th and 15th of every draft b/c I add/drop defenses every week and Miami plays a terrible Buffalo team week 1 and I really like Williams' upside.

thoughts?

Whats with all the love for Nicks?.. he's been going before a lot of proven receivers and even in front of his teammate, Steve Smith, in a lot of drafts... whats your thinking behind taking him pretty early?... I honestly want to be sold on him, but I'm just not... enlighten me lol

Personally I dont like any QB early unless it is GREAT value, but other than that you had a spectacular draft. Beanie in the 5th is Amazing.

It isn't a mock draft, but a draft from another league. However, I was quite, quite happy with it.

Picking with the 2nd Overall Pick:
1. Adrian Peterson
2. Ryan Matthews
3. Larry Fitzgerald
4. Tony Romo
5. Marques Colston
6. Tony Gonzalez
7. Hakeem Nicks
8. San Francisco D/ST
9. LeSean McCoy
10. Ronnie Brown
11. Mike Wallace
12. Mike Sims-Walker
13. Kevin Kolb
14. Braylon Edwards
15. Dan Carpenter

So we're looking at
QB - Romo, Kolb
RB - Peterson, Matthews, Brown, McCoy
WR - Fitzgerald, Colston, Nicks, Wallace, Sims-Walker, Edwards
TE - Gonzalez
D/ST - 49ers
K - Carpenter

It just dawned on me that I didn't draft a back-up tight end, so I'll probably drop Edwards for one.

How many teams was it? Because I am absolutely baffled by the fact that you got LeSean in the 9th and Brown in the 10th, as well as Colston in the 5th.

It seems a little early for a defense but I'll assume people were grabbing them early because you went with San Francisco , but otherwise very solid draft.

Ten teams. Half the teams were missing, but had their ratings in, so the picks were still realistic. Well, aside from the one dude who set his ratings to all Ravens players. So he picked Flacco at 4th overall and Billy Cundiff in the 2nd round, and Ravens D/ST in the 3rd. Aside from that one team though, there weren't any head scratcher picks.

Only reason I took the 49ers in the 8th is due to seeing how the picks were going, I figured I could take a high-end defense and still get plenty of depth with my later picks
