Will Kindle And Cody Get Signed?

16 posts in this topic

I remember reading an article that both players were in the middle of negotiations, but with rookies and select veterans reporting tomorrow I'm wondering what the plan is with these guys. I feel that it's important for all of our rookies, especially Kindle and Cody, to be in camp at the start so they can be a key part of the team at the start of the season. Does anybody know any inside information on their contract situation? What is everyone's thoughts?

Last I heard, they wanted to avoid hold outs so heres to hoping everything runs smoothly and they get signed ASAP!

Yea I remember hearing the same and I think they were trying to wait and see what other 2nd rounders were getting offered. What I don't understand is why wait like that, just set the bar and get our guys signed and ready to go. This whole CBA thing keeps coming into play. The sooner they get in the camp the better off they and the team will be.

I thought it said in that same article that they were still going to try to attend camp regardless of whether they get their contracts signed or not, so who knows.

It's not a matter of "if" they'll get signed, but "when." The reason why they're not signed is largely because no one knows how to slot the players' salaries by draft position given the uncertainty of the league beyond this season. Agents are trying to get the best deals for their players with the most upfront money possible, while front offices are trying to operate as if the salary cap could return any minute (which it likely will, work stoppage or no work stoppage.) Though there are precautions in place to prevent cap-dumping or any other moves that would kill a team when the salary cap returns, teams are still being cautious despite the uncapped year because they don't want to end up with an overpriced player on their hands that doesn't pan out.

This makes sense and all but as 2nd rounders you can't go too wrong here, especially with where these players were rated compared to where they were taken. I guess I would understand all of this if they were first rounders but they are not and really expected them to sign already.

I guess as long as they are ready once full team drills begin they will be alright. With it being so close to the start of training camp you would think that we would hear more about both of the contract situations. Hopefully tomorrow will shed a little light on what is going on with both player. Either way I'm excited for this week and all of the stories coming out of camp.

This doesn't affect his status as to when he'll sign or not. Probably just playing around with some buddies. Unless of course a statement comes out that it wasn't horseplay, but Ozzie doesn't draft knuckleheads. I think both will be signed in the next couple of days.

I just read the report on Sergio. Wow! How the hell do you fall down two flights of stairs? I have been hammered many of times and have never even come close to anything that drastic. Not good news the weekend before you are supposed to report for your first NFL TC. I was just hoping for a contract signing for the young guy, now I'm just hoping for a speedy recovery!
