Shannon Sharpe and Rod Woodson aren't on my list. Weren't ravens long enough.

1. Ray Lewis
2. JO
3. Ed Reed
4. Jamal Lewis
5.Chris McAlister
6. Matt Stover
7. Michael McCrary
8. Terrell Suggs
9. Todd Heap
10. Derrick Mason

My formula was how long they were ravens and how much they contributed to the team. Heap is towards the back for his lack of production over last couple of years.

This is a great list too.

why he played two years with us and didnt really do anything

Why? At most points during his THIRTEEN YEARS here, Stovers leg was the reason we could even score as many points as we did with the offenses we had...He played a HUGE role in our success

Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, but what about Jermaine Lewis??? Not much of a WR, but a STUD returner. Him giving us awesome field position is one of the main reasons we won that Superbowl, and not just bc of the TD return againt the Giants. I mean we had hardly any QB play and won most games defensively by pounding the rock on the offense to waste time and then playing stout defense or creating turnovers. Without great field position, you cannot run the ball effectively. Great field position from Jermaine, followed by Jamal pounding the rock, with Marvin calling out the plays to Ray is how the 4 Lewis' led us to the bowl.

Maybe Jermaine isn't "Top 10" bc special teams just doesnt get any credit. But I think special teams is important to any champion and without Jermaine Lewis we dont have a super bowl victory.... that guy is a must on my Top 10.
How do we not win the Super Bowl without Jermaine Lewis? Yeah, he won us the Jets game, but even with that loss we're still 11-5 and still have the 4 seed. His presence wasn't responsible for all of our blowout wins in the playoffs. And we won the Super Bowl by 27, so it's not like Lewis was the difference.

As for the players that had longer or more storied tenures with other teams, most notably Woodson and Sharpe, I've tried to take the player only as they were during their time with the Ravens. Woodson was good when he was with us but I don't think he was top 10, same with Sharpe. Mason makes it because I think he's been at or near the top of his game while he's been here and he's been our standalone reciever for pretty much all of his time here. The rest are pretty much self explanatory I'd say.

Jermaine kept a small field even smaller. His yards after catch speak for them selves.

Amendment to my earlier post - how could I miss NGATA??? He is a top 3 Raven of all time. Sadly I have to bump McCrary from my top 10 list folks...

FYI - you didn't make the change that you noted. Also, why would adding Ngata somewhere on your list give McCrary the boot when you have him as #6?

But without consistantly having great field position, the oppositions offense only has a short distance to score. As good as that Defense was, there's no way they could have held everyone to those low score totals while having to defend a short field every time. Because of Jermaine, the opposition consistantly had to attack most of the distance of the field.

Plus the running game isnt as effective when you start inside your own 20... with our non-existant passing game, no Jermaine Lewis means less possession and even less points

1. Ray
2. Odgen
3. Reed
4. Stover (he was our only offense, without him, we would be no where)
5. C-Mac
6. Jamal Lewis
7. Gregg
8. Heap
9. Boulware
10. McCary, The Goose

The last 3 are debatable, but 1-7 I feel like you can't even argue them.

A few yards a game isn't going to make that much of a difference, especially when most of their wins were blowouts. Corey Harris was the one who returned kickoffs, anyway, during the season.

IMO putting Jermaine on the list is like putting Sam Koch on the list. They're both important contributors but their position disqualifies them from all time Raven's greatness.

since both Je. Lewis and Koch are on my list I totally disagree that their position disqualifies them. Foot ball is a game of inches. A short punt here, a crappy return there, DOES have an effect on the outcome of a football game.

When we won the Super Bowl much of what won it for us was field position. That winning formula has not changed.

So you would choose Koch to keep over Ngata? Or Jermaine over Suggs, Boulware, McCrary, Flacco, Oher, or Rice?

I'm sorry but your "winning formula" is a little bit skewed...

And the fact that you put Jermaine Lewis over JOHN OGDEN just crosses the line into pure insanity.
