Top Ten All-Time Ravens

72 posts in this topic

Just watch the nfl network countdown the top ten cowboys ever, so I figured we should have our own. The ravens history isnt long so there wont be many old timers on my list.

10. Joe Flacco- greatest qb in ravens history but that aint saying much

9. C- Mac- our version of darrell Revis, shutdown corner in his prime

8. Todd Heap- HHHHHEEEEAAAAPPPPP

7. Derrick Mason- still runs great routes

6. Jamie Sharper- could teach T-sizzle how to be a pro

5. Jamal Lewis- say what you want, but he was a beast

4. Johnathon Ogden- hall of fame

3. Ed Reed- best safety ever

2. Ray Lewis-???? Yep no. 2

1. Ozzie newsome- think about it.... This years draft, last years, Ray lewis and ogden same draft.

It really comes to down to opinion but I don't see how Matt Stover isn't on either of your lists.

I would put JO over everyone there is a reason why he was our 1st ever draft pick in Raven history.
J.O. is easily in the conversation as the best player in Ravens history but where he was drafted has nothing to do with it in my opinion. Expansion teams have whiffed on their first pick before; just ask the Texans.

Flacco and Ngata may be new.. but they make my list. Goose was ok.. but he was just big. Haloti is a beast. If he stays with us, i'll say JJ would be a nice 11. or LeRon McClain

1) Ray Lewis

3) Ed Reed
4) Matt Stover
5) Jamal Lewis

8) Rod Woodson
9) Chris McAlister
10) Michael McCrary

I'm hesitant to include Flacco, Ngata, or any younger guys on the list because their careers could easily go south in a jiffy. I was also hesitant to put Sharpe and Woodson on there because their respective stints with the Broncos and Steelers were longer, but those two men were so influential in the success of the 2000 season that it wouldn't have been prudent to leave them off on the basis of where they spent more time.

Why? At most points during his THIRTEEN YEARS here, Stovers leg was the reason we could even score as many points as we did with the offenses we had...He played a HUGE role in our success

Because in the end he is not the one battling to put the team in position to score points, like everyone on the offense and defense do. He kicks a ball end of story.

Where is your list?

Stover over C-Mac on anyone's list is a bit puzzling, this guy shut down his side of the field for a decade. Not to mention he was great in run support and tackling for a CB.

I would love to know how Ogden was 6th on one list and 9th on another. Seriously, what the heck?

agreed JO should be either 1B with Ray being 1A or number 2...people dont give him credit only because he was an offensive lineman

We're not doing a "most pathetic" list because, let's face it, even the worst players in the NFL are more talented than the average fan. The NFL represents the top percentile of talent in the nation, hence why it's such a selective group.

Also, such a list would be a borderline attack on the players' character.

Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, but what about Jermaine Lewis??? Not much of a WR, but a STUD returner. Him giving us awesome field position is one of the main reasons we won that Superbowl, and not just bc of the TD return againt the Giants. I mean we had hardly any QB play and won most games defensively by pounding the rock on the offense to waste time and then playing stout defense or creating turnovers. Without great field position, you cannot run the ball effectively. Great field position from Jermaine, followed by Jamal pounding the rock, with Marvin calling out the plays to Ray is how the 4 Lewis' led us to the bowl.

Maybe Jermaine isn't "Top 10" bc special teams just doesnt get any credit. But I think special teams is important to any champion and without Jermaine Lewis we dont have a super bowl victory.... that guy is a must on my Top 10.

I think we well does deserve top ten. Hence his appearing on my list :)

I am not sure what happend to him after our super bowl win, but we have needed a talent like that since.

Shannon Sharpe and Rod Woodson aren't on my list. Weren't ravens long enough.

1. Ray Lewis
2. JO
3. Ed Reed
4. Jamal Lewis
5.Chris McAlister
6. Matt Stover
7. Michael McCrary
8. Terrell Suggs
9. Todd Heap
10. Derrick Mason

My formula was how long they were ravens and how much they contributed to the team. Heap is towards the back for his lack of production over last couple of years.

Jermaine Lewis was a beast too but I couldn't leave Cmac or McCrary out because they meant so much to our Defense when they played, but Jermaine should have some recognition. Flacco and Rice will bump a few of these guys out eventually but it's too early to do so right now.

I don't think how long they were with the team should matter much. Those were two guys who put us over the edge and got us a SB. Honestly I think Jamal should be above Reed too, he was the only reason we had any sucess on offensive for a long time. Boulware over McCrary, no T-Sizzle (yet), and as much as I love Mason, I feel like he could easily be replaced with a little more thought. Not calling out your list btw, just happened to reply on yours.
