In The Grasp!

I cannot believe Mike Carey did not call "In the Grasp" when Eli made that ridiculous play to Tyree... if you ask me, I smell something fishy. What a horribly missed call, in my opinion. Your thoughts?

I think it is "in the grass" but I could be mistaken. Either way all you had to do was be a Ravens fan when they played us to know that the Pats had some bad calls coming back to them! I don't think it was a bad call at all. Overall the game was well called and well played. Great Super Bowl!!!

GO GIANTS (for tonight only!!!)

I thought the game was called right all game, i couldent say that too many times this year, it seems like there was bad or missed calls all year long in almost every game.

Man, all you have to do is look at the replays of some of the bad calls in the Pats/Ravens game, that virtually handed them THAT game, to know that karma, or what goes around comes around was way overdue for the Patriots. And they WERE proven of cheating with the Spygate scandal. I SOOO hoped that they would get their due!!!

Yeah, I was a bigtime Giants fan tonite!!!! They DESERVED this win!!!!

They did. I dont like Mike Curry because he is bias against the Ravens but he called a very fair game tonight. It just goes to show how good the Pats are when they dont have the refs on their side.

How about the refs allowing Belchick to challenge that there were 12 men on the field? I have never seen that done before. If you can challenge that possible penalty you should be able to challenge all of them.

I've seen that happen before in a couple other games this season. It's a newer rule.

The only reason why it's allowed to be challenged because if the ball is snapped and the number of players are not accounted for (the responsibility of the line judge or the back judge, I believe), then that gives the team with extra men a competitive advantage (intentional or otherwise).

It was a big turning point in the Redskins Vs. Vikings game late in the season too. I don't understand how only that particular penalty is challengeable.

Its a childish challenge. the guy was running as fast as he can to the sideline, why have the play challenged? the NFL is getting too techical with the callings, i can understand the 12 men being called on the field if the 12th man is "on the field"

or if he;s no where close to the sideline while the ball's being snapped, but i mean the guy was ONE STEP FROM THE SIDELINES. That call should have never been called or allowed to be challenged since the refs diddnt even call it on the field.

The pats diddnt get the first down plain and simple, LET THE MEN PLAY SOME FOOTBALL PLEASE. all these dumb calls and making sure everything was perfect is just dumb.

No I am by no means a Pats fan but I thought that Manning was stopped for sure and was confused as to why it wasn't called is all... I was rooting for the Pats last night only because I cannot stand anything New York

The refs didn't actually make the calls for the Patriots. They actually called a "fair" game, go figure?

But if you look at the play he was never down. Its not like when the Jags played the Pats and Gerard had one knee on the ground and simoultanously let the ball go. That call could have went either way. Eli was no where near the ground.

the term is "in the grasp" it was also known as "grasp and control". the pats had eli by the jersey but i wouldn't say they had a "grasp" on him and certainly didn't have "control" either way i think it was correct to not make any call. on the other end, the catch tyree made was ridiculous!! i do think the refs missed a call on the catch toomer made when he clearly put his hand in the defenders face and pushed him away. the one where he barely got his feet in bounds...oh well though. i was rooting for the giants as if i were a diehard giants fan.

GO RAVENS 08'!!!!!!

They didn't even have a body on him. Only a few hands. It wasn't even close to being able to be called.

I thought the Refs did a great job with the game last night, for a change.

Yeah, I'm glad Adalius Thomas didn't win the super bowl with the Pats this year, if he can't win it with the ravens then he shouldn't win it at all :P

He was a rookie when we won our Superbowl in 2001. He didnt play but he was on the team and got a ring. I am glad he didnt get one though, I dont appreciate him dissing us during the season and being such a hypocrit.
