I thought this was going to be a thread about how we think williams might have a break out season or if you thought he would fall back in the depth chart but wow this even shocked me. I have heard nothing of this suspension if its true please update us.

Here's a link to the National Football Post. It doesn't say why he was suspended, just that he violated the personal conduct policy.

It looks like it was from an incident when he was with the Titans.

Apparently this stems from an incident when he was a Titan.

I just cant understand why they would wait until this season to put that in place. Whatever i hope that he turns out to be a unforseen gem.

It's from an "incident" when he was with the Titans last year, Ozzie says he knew about it from the day they signed him last year.

As far as Cary goes, this is really unfortunate for his chances of making the team, even if its just for 2 games. All I had been reading were positive things from Pagano about the kid, he seems to have been really working hard and improving. Before this, I thought he had a good shot at making it as our 5th corner
(6th if we keep that many on the active roster). Hopefully we can stash him on the practice squad if neccessary, pretty sure this will be his 3rd season so it will be the last he is eligible for it.

I think he'll be just fine. If the Ravens were already aware of the situation, then they likely prepared for the worst. He's still an asset on Special Teams, at the least, and I don't see this diminishing his chances of making the team.

Cut him. We don't need a problem child. I was high on Cary too, oh well.

eh. Don't be that quick to cut him. I think the FO knew about this before we signed him. We have had people that have had problems before (Ray ray, Stallworth, Jamal Lewis I think, Washington beat his girlfriend I think), but as long as it doesn't happen a lot then that's what is important imo.

Does anybody know?

Cause if not it could be something as small as calling Goodell a dueche (like we all think he is)

One mistake. Ozzie wouldn't of signed him unless he already knew this. No one was mad when we signed the late McNair when he had his DUIs or Ray Lewis when he was hanging with the wrong crowd.

I like him as well. He's not easy on the one's who needs to be punished the most. The legal system should follow not to pick favorites...

Sorry Mod's.

So, by joke, you meant that's actually how you feel. Just messing with ya, just funny to say "kind of meant it as a joke, but that's really how I feel".

My point is I don't think he is a total d*** of a commish, but I kinda think he kinda gives off a duechey vibe to me.

I don't completely hate him, I just don't like him that much.

Totally different situations. Two Pro Bowlers and one Hall of Fame bound while Williams is a fodder.
So are you saying that we should make exceptions for those with a better on-the-field resume, simply because of their status as players? You know, O.J. Simpson is a Pro Bowler who's in the Hall of Fame. Not exactly the best logic.

Although I hate this happening to a Ravens player, I totally agree with it and it makes no difference what the violation is. Really, I could care less. I think the NFL needs to get even more drastic with violators because it's getting out of hand. Make a mistake, you get suspended. Anything following, you get your walking papers. Anyone in the professional sports limelight should be held to a higher degree of accountability for their actions.

And I'm not some scum-sucking lawyer. j/k lol HaHaHaHa!

According to baltimoresun it was a "family issue" that gave him the two game suspension. I think we can kind of assume where this is going.

What I'm saying is that they had those statuses and accolades, then they got into trouble. We just brought Cary Williams in and he's suspended for two games? So we're just going to cut Ray Lewis and not even give McNair a look. My point is that they were Veterans at the time they got into trouble, and Williams is a camp fodder.

Veterans - Camp Fodder. Camp Fodder - Veterans. Ray Lewis, Steve McNair - Cary Williams. Cary Williams - Ray Lewis, Steve McNair. Say it over and over bud.

I'm not sticking up for Ray or Steve, but like I said, totally different situation. I like Williams too, but I don't want the "suspension plague" to hit our team and have everyone out there talking crap. One suspension will lead to the old, "Ravens are a bunch of criminals", "Ray Lewis should be in jail", "This is what happens when you sign jail birds" and all of that nonsense that is getting old. Half of the NFL fan base doesn't even know the stories behind our players, yet they talk crap based off of a single story.

It is my fault to be so quick to say "cut him" before I even find out what he did, but I just don't want a player who has a future suspension to represent my favorite team.

Edit - It's based off of a family issue? So it's more than like a domestic dispute problem. Nice!

Fooder or a guy trying to make his way. I was not aware that the incident occured while he was on another team. So if the front office is ok with it than I am, I just want to see what he can be.

Most veterans know that there is going to be consequences for any actions that bring negative attention to themselves and at the least to the NFL Shield. Some players continue to make poor decisions without seeming to care what the outcome may be.

This incident with Williams happened prior to him coming to Baltimore which should be evident that no matter what, it will catch up to you.

This actually could be used as a positive to teach some of the younger guys on the team a lesson about being responsible for your actions. I personally feel Oz and Co. knew what they were in for but felt that Williams could still be of value to our team. You could bet the farm that if anything, I mean anything else were to happen to Williams, he would barely have time to pack before they show him the door.

I am all for second chances in this world, the NFL shouldnt be any different. Its just a matter of what you choose to do with your second chance. Ray Lewis is the perfect example of opening up ones eyes and realizing what a privelage it is to be playing in the NFL. It doesnt matter if you are guilty, wrongly accused, or whatever the situation is, if you get the chance, use it wisely.
