Signing Free Agents As Insurance

Signing a veteran with a track record, one who been there done that. Was this necessary?,or should you have gotten a Shut Down corner back. I support this move, however, I would have preferred the Shut Down corner. Guess what! The New York Jets chose to get another Shut Down corner, now, they have two.

Yes! Good idea.. shut down corner.....let me just check the list here.........

Vernon Fox
Will Allen
Ken Lucas

Ahhh. I know who's a shutdown corner who's still available.....Cory Ivy. That's who you were thinking, wasn't it? Frank Walker is still looking for a team too.

I don't usually comment on topics like this, but please, just stop. It seems as if there has been an overwhelming flood of half-wit threads floating around. Do you know the meaning of a "shut down" corner? Do you know that theirs just about maybe two or three in the league?

We spent 3 million dollars on a backup QB because it's a no cap year, meaning we don't get penalized. If Flacco were to go down early, you'd be fine with Smith or Beck leading the way with our brutal schedule?

We're fine with the DB situation. Webb will be hack before you know it, Washington says he feels fine, and either Zbikowski or Hamlin should prove to be adequate replacements for Reed until he comes back. I'm sick and tired of these threads. Can't wait for the season to start.

So are you saying we should have traded our 3rd round pick to get Cromartie, or stayed in the first round and gotten Kyle Wilson? Either way...fail.

Cromartie is garbage. He let the Jets plow straight over him in the run game last year, he can't tackle as well, his coverage skills aren't as great anymore, and he's got lots of off the field issues. He also quits in tough games where you get behind. Pro Football Focus rates him as below average. Football outsiders had a similar opinion.

Money is not an issue at corner because there were no big name free agents to sign.

Charles Woodson
Darrelle Revis
Champ Bailey
Nmadi Asomgha
Asante Samuels
Cortland Finnegan
Johnathan Joseph

These are the only Shutdown corners in the league, some of which are debateable (Samuels, Finnegan, and Joesph). Not to mention we already grabbed the best FA corner out there right now.
So tell me, which other one do they have besides Revis? And which one should we get?

These topics are the best, because the OP rips the Front Office without legit cause...and then never comes back to take the heat.

Did you watch either of these guys play last season? Asante Samuel got torched at least a dozen times and Woodson got embarrased in the playoffs. Cortland Finnegan is a stretch but the good news is that he's getting lessons from Darrelle Revis.

One thing, Woodson won DPOY over Revis, so i wouldn't be talking, and mostly anybody would consider him top 3, or at least top 5 in the league at his position.

Also, I said some of them including Asante are streches, and you are making him out to be worse than he actually is. He is easily an elite corner although a shutdown corner is a little bit of a stretch.

And btw, welcome, it's nice to have a Jets fan on the forum although it woulda been nice if you were here a few months ago for the vicious Jets vs. Ravens arguement.

There'll be more. We're due for a re-hash of the same old topics between training camp and the regular season.
