Ed Reed On Bulger

41 posts in this topic

So much for coasting into the pre-season. If you believe some of the comments in that link there's a QB controversy in Baltimore and some people would like to see a Smith-Flacco-Beck depth chart, with Bulger being cut... Ugh.

I really think the Ravens wasted money picking up Marc Bulger to back up our starting QB. The Ravens could have invested the money in a good cornerback. Long outside passes was the Ravens biggest weekness last season.

This is ridiculous! The signing of Bulger was exactly what they needed. He is an experienced veteran who has played at a pro-bowl level for years. He was on a team that didn't give him much support and has agreed to take a back-up role to a young up and coming QB, which speaks volumes about his personality if you ask me. I like Smith and all but Smith hasn't been in the situations that Bulger has and hasn't really proved anything so far in his NFL career. If anybody gets cut I feel it should be Beck because Smith has been in the system longer, but Bulger benefits Flacco more than Smith does at this point.

The Ravens have addressed the secondary issues with bringing in Harris and Hamlin and hoping that the undrafted rookies they picked up pan out while their starters get back to game shape. The teams focus is also to get at the QB a lot more to take pressure off of the secondary so I feel the D will be just fine as a whole.

What good cornerback? Please tell me.

Picking up Bulger is by far the best move the Ravens could have done. I dont understand where and how people get the idea that Troy Smith is any good. College? How many quarterbacks have been good in college and failed in the NFL? There is absolutely no basis for why Smith would be better than Bulger or even Flacco.

Who? Who should they have invested in? I hate hearing statements like this because it shows a complete lack of understanding of free agency, yet you really must believe that there's some great CB out there that we're not getting. And do you honestly think that the Ravens broke the bank to sign Bulger?

Now, is it at all possible Reed might've been building up Troy's value for someone to trade, (or when/if troy leaves for FA) it is a decently known fact that T.Smith wants to start somewhere; and being "THE Guy" doesn't usually pertain to being a back up

just some food for thought

Whether or not he is trying to help out his value, anyone in the right mind still wouldnt trade jack squat for him because he hasnt done anything.

I disliked Flacco's comments but this was OK. Reed was just sticking up for Smith. I think it's good to have a veteran QB to help Flacco. Troy Smith is a good runner but a bad passer and I don't think he has a good wortk ethic. QB depth for next season.
1) Joe Flacco
1 (Share #1 in case Flacco gets injured, like in 2007 with McNair and Boller)
2) John Beck :th_shemademe-2:

To any of you ripping on Reed for this, please go listen to the entire radio interview in question. Ed never says anything about Troy being "better" than Bulger. He is not trying to stir up "drama" and "ruin" our upcoming season, give me a break! The fact of the matter is, regardless of how popular or not popular Smith is with fans, he is EXTREMELY popular with his teammates because he has been nothing but a humble, charismatic team player. What is so wrong with Ed and Joe sticking up for a good friend who could be on the roster bubble? Absolutely nothing, but since there is nothing to talk about for another week, the media and those fans who like displaying their ignorance like to take little things like this and blow it out of proportion.

I also watched the NFL Live last week where Suggs said he would welcome T.O. on our team. Well, that's all he said. He and Bruschi talked about it for literally 1 minute, jokingly pointed at the camer and said "Ozzie, make it happen", and they moved along. Alas, the same thing happens again as mentioned above. Everyone needs to chill out and realize that these casual statements are being blown out of proportion because, as I said, there is nothing to talk about. People are acting like Suggs is making the personnel decisions, HA! Please...

If this type of media-made drama is killing you, I would hate to see said fans rooting for the Steelers, Dolphins, Eagles, Bengals, Redskins, Lions, Seahawks, or any of the other miriad of teams that have had REAL offseason problems and drama. Give it a rest people and get ready for training camp next week. All of this will be in the furthest depths of everyone's minds by then.

LOL!

So a proven pro bowl QB....one that plays the most.vital position on a football field...who may be called in at times this year to win some games for us...

Should be paid less than our what....6th linebacker...because?

Under your management...FO should probably pay the special team players more than Bulger too.

Proven QB that got 1/15 record. Very nice indeed
