Collectively we are a pool of talent this year on the Baltimore Ravens.
Which side of the ball do you guys think would house the MVP this year? Would it be Cam's offense, Gregg's side the defense or Jerry's special teams. Who do you predict will get the honorable mention this year?

I had to go with Joe on this one, mainly because he'll touch the ball more than all the other skill positions and is the determining factor of who receives the ball as well as how it's received.

Gotta go with Joe to because if he is our MVP then it will bring the most success to the team. It HAS to be Joe.

I went with Joe because other then an aged McNair we never had a QB saying "this guy is our MVP."
Now we have a Franchise QB in Flacco I will be crossing my fingers till the Playoffs.

JOE FLACCO! ...Because he's a quarterback :P

CJ2K had over 2,000 yards rushing and didn't get MVP. Unless Ray Rice rushes for over 2,000 yards and gets like, 20+ TDs then I don't think he'll get it.

And with how Cam is going to be passing the ball frequently (we saw it at the beginning of last season) it's hard to see Ray Rice getting that much yards. He'll have more big runs but I'd say he still gets around 1,300 yards for the season.

For the side of the ball, I'll take the defense. There's alot to be said for cointinuity. I'll have to think about an individual player though...

Shake, why do you have Marc Bulger, Sam Koch, and Graham up there....?

I'm not Shake, I did it just for an argument. Some of those names are worthy of playing at a Probowl level. Which intern constitutes a maybe nomination for a mvp...

I think it's pretty easy to say Rice.. we have a lot riding on Flacco, but I think it's pretty clear that Rice was our most valuable player in 2009 and will continue that trend in 2010 IMO

Meh, I personally never really liked the concept of the MVP in the NFL, although I can see why people would want it. It works in sports such as Baseball or Basketball, where the players' roles aren't radically different, but in football, every position is highly specialized, especially on offense. It's a bit of an apples-to-oranges kind of thing, where the players in the stat-heavy positions get the most recognition while the relatively "forgotten" players, most notably the O-line, only get passing mention of their importance without any "real" league recognition of their accomplishments.

That being said, I voted Ray Lewis. Not because I think he has the best chance to win some kind of league MVP award (Ray Rice is poised to provide the most impressive numbers), but because his intensity in his leadership role is what, to me, has been the constant that the Ravens have had year in and year out that allows them to be consistent contenders. He just makes everyone around him better. This has been seen in the rise from relative obscurity of players like Adalius Thomas and Bart Scott while they played for the Ravens, where I think Ray Lewis had a big impact in elevating their game.

I still think lucky # 5 Joe Flacco.
If Ray gets it then people are still going to praise our Defense and look down on our offense... Just remember those words!

That has to be one of the best first posts I've ever seen. Thanks for not putting it in all caps. ;)

I would be worried if Sam Koch was our MVP...

Lewis & Rice are the "go-to" guys on their respective side of the ball.

However, I think with the additions to the passing attack along the sidelines & two young rooks backing him up -- I don't see Heap getting as many touches, but being more productive when he does get the ball.

My "MVP" vote is more of a "MIP" (Most Improved Player) vote.

That's mainly because Johnson was on a team that started 0-6 and despite finishing 8-8, couldn't manage to make the playoffs. People associate the "MVP" with a playoff team because they attribute the team's getting there to be shouldered by the said MVP. If the Titans had managed to make it to the playoffs, I think CJ would have definitely received the award because it would be his 2500+ all purpose yards effort that brought them back from 0-6 to make the playoffs. Because of the tendency of the MVP Award to go hand-in-hand with a winning team, guys like Chris Johnson unfortunately get overlooked.

If its going to be Cams offence it will be Rice, last year he was my MVP. He was their running game and passing game last year. This year take your pick, theres at least 5 worthy defenders. I would love to see Suggs play back up to form and get 20 sacks. If he can make thier pass rush relevant again their success could depend on him
