Was There Ever A Doubt

Last night on NFL Network Solomon Wilcots broke down the top 5 inside linebackers.
From 5 to 1

5. Lofa Tatupu Seatle Seahawks
4. Demeco Ryans Houston Texans
3. John Beason Carolina Panthers
2. Patrick Willis SanFransisco 49ers

And now the number one, after 14 years in the league, the "Godfather", and still reigning champion, our very own Ray Lewis.

I guess its no suprise that Ray is still the best in the biz. Some are going to disagree only to say Patrick Willis should be number one. As long as Ray still puts on the uniform and plays with the passion that he does, he will IMO remain at the top of the list.

Honestly I think P.Willis got robbed

but I'm just assuming the Best in the Biz is right now...

if it's overall performance then yeah he's the best...

It's really debatable, and Willis will definitely be the best in a year or two if he isn't already. But idk maybe it's my bias talking, but I still think Ray is the best.

If being the best player was only a measure of individual effort, athleticism, talent ect... then I would have to say Willis is currently the best. But there are other things to consider. Willis does not have the vision and football IQ Ray does. Lewis is like having another coach on the field, he sniffs out plays like no other, and MOST IMPORTANTLY he makes everyone on the defense a better player.

It's the same reason Jordan is the best ever... he made Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc, Kerr, Grant, Longley, Harper, Cartwright, BJ Armstrong into great players. Without Jordan we don't even know most of their names. Ray Lewis has done the same with this Ravens defense. That ability is the sign of true greatness!

How did he get robbed...he was 2nd. That could only mean that you think Willis is better than Lewis, but like many you neglect the wealth of knowledge that Ray puts to use in "quarterbacking" our defense.

I love that he left Ur-slacker out of his top 5. Bears fans are so delusional. He is easily the most overrated player in the NFL.

Bear fans are very delusional. Urlacher was never that good in his "prime"?

I went to college in the Midwest. Can't even begin to tell you how many arguments I would get in while wearing my Ray Lewis jersey.

as awesome as he plays physically - his mental state is what really makes him great.
he is so up for every play, that he can see what will happen and is usually right there, wherever the play goes. sometimes I will forget to watch him individually until he shows up to stop the play and there is 52 - right on it.
love the guy...

I think Willis is the best MLB in the league right now but NFLN definitely isn't wrong for crowning Ray the best.

C'mon I think we all know that in the here and now, Ray is still elite, but is not as good as Willis.

Lewis is still the best. He might not be up there physically with Willis, but then again who would be after 14 years in the league. Ray Lewis is one of the best ILBs to play the game and he always will be. Nobody has the passion for the game like he does, and nobody plays with the same intensity. When he gets his game face on, look out.

Personally, I am tired of the Lewis vs. Willis debate.

I think we all get that Ray is the better leaders, mental player, and makes everyone around him better.

And we all know that Willis is faster and better at the individual position.

It pretty much depends on which one to value more although Willis still has good leadership and Lewis is still a beast on the field.

Ngata was voted the best DT. Finally getting the recognition he deserves.
Yup Jeff Saturday was in on NFL network laying out his top 5(or 8) DT's in the game, he had big Haloti at numero 1. The best Safety, MLB and DT in the game isn't bad at all haha.

Athletically, Willis is faster at this point because of his youth, not necessarily better than Ray was at the same age. With that said, I feel Ray's experience and knowledge of the game and opponents, places him above Willis and is the determining factor in the difference between the two.
