Super Bowl XLV Ravens Vs. Vikings

35 posts in this topic

I don't know how many of you read Athlon Sports magazine, I always buy the Big Ten NCAA and Pro Football previews. It helps hold me over tell the season starts.
They have us seeded #2 behind the Chargers in the AFC. In their 5 bold predictions, #3 is Ravens rule the AFC. They have us beating the Colts and then the Jets on our way to Super Bowl XLV against the Vikings.

Just thought it was interesting and am bored waiting for the season to start.

Very possible, the only people I can see as favorites for the Super Bowl in the NFC next year are the Packers, Vikings, and maybe the Cowboys. (This means not the Saints fyi).

My upset pick for the NFC Champions are the 49ers, but I personally think it will probably be us and the Vikes. I will honestly feel bad for Brett though, it will be sad to watch him walk off the field without another ring.

Lol, love that part. The Cowboys are my pick in the NFC, although the will probably disappoint in the playoffs again. The 49ers are a good surprise pick, it will all be on Alex Smith to improve dramatically (spelling?) in my opinion.

Ravens beat the Jets & Colts to advance to the Super Bowl? Interesting but my road to Dallas for the Ravens involves playing the Titans in the Divisional round(Home Playoff game for us) and beating the Chargers(on the road in SD) in the AFC Championship game. Now he is in the right division for the NFC Champion but the wrong team... Green Bay Packers NFC Champions of 2010! I have Ravens vs Packers in Dallas Texas.

Edit: Kenny Chesney should perform the Half time show in this years Super Bowl.

The pieces are there for the Packers, there o-line needs to prove they can play well consistently. The game starts in the trenches. You can have a great qb and wrs, but the qb can't do much from his back. In my opinion, if Favre comes back, they are the better all around team. For me in the NFC it goes; Cowboys, Vikings, Packers.

Let's not forget that the Vikings pass D ranked 19th last year. A mind blowing 26 TDs allowed and only 11 INTs. I think the packers or Cowboys look stronger right now.

I take everything with a grain of salt. These are just words. Haven't all these so called sports writers been saying the Cowboys and Patriots will meet up at the Superbowl for the best 10 years?

Hopefully our players dont pay attention to this and just play their games and dont let this talk get to their heads.

It's really starting to annoy me.

I like the 49ers as well but for them to be NFC Champs... your a year off.... at least according to history. The NFC West seems weak on paper but they have had 2 NFC Champions in that division within 3 years. Now judging off that, that means the 49ers are going to be NFC Champs next year and heading to Indianapolis in 2012 to play in Super Bowl 46!

Seattle: SB 40

Arizona: SB 43

49ers: SB 46????

That's an interesting Trend isn't it. Well at least that gives Rams fans hope that in 4 years the Rams will be playing in the Super Bowl if history repeats itself lol.

The team i see the Ravens playing in the super bowl is the packers.. they have a preety good offense and a Defense that reminds me of the Ravens back when we had Rex. if we dont get some real corners soon we'll need to be carefull against the packers they have great recievers and arron rodgers is coming to age hopefully Ladarius Webb comes back strong. My prediction Ravens-35 Packers-17

Each of the three top NFC teams mentioed in here have something that could keep them out. Whether its the Vikings pass defense or the Packers O-line. The Cowboys just can't seem to make it all the way through the playoffs. There is no perfectly well rounded team. Every team has an area that can keep them out of the super bowl.

That is kinda cool, but I honestly don't consider anything like that a "trend" until at least three examples. That's just me.

And I'm not saying they will, I'm saying that they are the underdogs that no one will expect but has a serious shot. If it is an upset, I think it'll be the Niners.

Another upset team I have in mind is the Falcons, but I would take the Niners before them based on gut feeling.

I take the Falcons over the niners because Matt Ryan is more of a proven QB then A. Smith. I think there o-line is very young considering 2 of the starting guys were drafted this year. With Mike Singletary you never know!

But their Line is already pretty good, even before drafting Iupati and Davis. But the thing you are forgetting is

A. Heitman and Staley are still beasts, as well as Rachal.

B. Interior lineman ussually never go in the first round. Iupati is just that good, and Maurkice Pouncey just was drafted because of team need and the fact that the Steelers reached, as well as his versatality. If they didnt take him he probably would have fell to at least the mid-20's, if not to the top of the 2nd.

C. Davis would have went possibly top 5 if not for character issues, and do you really think Singletary will have any of THAT!

And considering the rest of their team, Alex Smith came in last year and DOMINATED. If he started the whole season he would have had a pretty good shot at 4,000 yards. And he has good receivers in Vernon Davis and Crabtree.

Lets not forget one very important thing... Frank "THE TANK" Gore. He is a straight animal and is considered a top 5 back in some circles. He will be huge for the Niners if he stays healthy.

And one last thing, people overlook how big of an acquisition Ted Ginn is. The Niners finally have a great return man, something they haven't had for years, and could possibly have a Devin Hester-like effect on them this year. He should also do wonders in the passing game in the slot or as a number two with his blazing speed.

That being said, I still think they will probably lose to the Vikings/Packers (whoever loses the division) and then one of those two teams, probably the Vikes if Antione Winfield performs and they can have consistent play otherwise, and then we will beat the Viking 34-24.

If they beat them, San Francisco is headed to the bug dance.

Nick, your prediction is illogical in my opinion. Only because the Packers pretty much stifled us on both sides of the ball last year. Im not saying that we wont beat them, but they are a very very incredible team. They will be in the 2nd year of a new defensive shceme (Kinda makes me wish we had Dom Capers as our D Coord) and mid-season last year they looked like they have been running that scheme for years (especially against us) If it is us and GB, we will have to stay on our wits and find a way to effectively penetrate their D line, and stop the slant routes on Offense.

Now, things may look bleak with my viewpoint, BUT It is incredibly hard ti win in Lambeau, in the winter, on primetime. Our boys were in an environment that GB was very used to and we weren't. 21-17 Ravens (If we effectively implement our gameplan and it works) If things go awry 31-10 Packers.

Fixed it! :34853_angel:

But seriously, Lambeau is nothing close to Dallas and to be fair, we got SOO much better this offseason, and the Packers didnt improve nearly as much as we did. I'm not saying 21-17 isn't possible, but his claim, although a 35-17 Super Bowl isn't that probable, I wouldn't call it illogical.

I'm reaching outside the box here and saying Ravens vs Dolphins in the AFC Championship and Packers vs Falcons in the NFC. I see the Ravens, Dolphins, Patriots, Colts, Titans and Texans making the playoffs in the AFC and the Packers, Falcons, Cardinals, Saints, Vikings and Cowboys in the NFC. Personally I'd like to see a Ravens/Falcons SB, with all the talk about Flacco and Ryan, whose really better? Let's settle it in a Superbowl.

I do agree, but how do you see AZ making it. They lost their starting QB, star LB, 1000 yard WR, and McFadden.

The only upgrade they made was Faneca and Kerry Rhodes, but is that enough to beat the beastly Niners who swept them last year?

The only reason why I see them making it is the NFC West is flat out horrible. If you ask me, I think the Cards can go 4-2 in the division and tie records with the Niners. If not the Cards then it would be the Niners. Fitzgerald can make any QB look like a pro. Just throw it in his direction, and if Ed Reed isn't there, he'll catch it.
