Who Should Ravens Trade For Now?

60 posts in this topic

atleast its not a "we should go after Haynesworth" or "We need a WR" thread.

I'd say LeBron, but he's already gone to Miami

Perhaps Asomgha or McKelvin?

Besides that I don't really see anyone else worth trading for that we can get for good value, if we can even grab them.

I believe we have our team already, barring any major injuries I think this will be our team for the 2010 season. We only had a void in the secondary and we already addressed that, honestly without doing anything dramatic how can you make this football team better? I don't want anyone brought it, I want the team we have NOW.

The Ravens should trade for Nmandi Asmoah and James Laurinatis or Jonathan Vilma. That covers our DB problem and next to Ray problem.

This thread is just full of wonderful ideas! </sarcasm>

To satisfy my curiosity, who do you propose we give up in exchange for Laurinatis or Vilma, AND Aso? Then how do you propose we come up with the cap space to keep them on the roster?

Maybe we can talk Ryan Leaf out of retirement too.

I think our only bargaining chip would be Troy Smith..and nobody wants him. I'll agree with the person who said that he/she feels that we have our team.

Needs coming out of last season:

WR
Pass rusher either at DE or OLB
CB/Safety
TE depth
Kicker

Ravens solutions

WR- Ozzie signed Stallworth and got a bargain for Boldin, then trades out of the 1st round to adress other needs (see below)oh and they re-signed mr.dependable Derrick Mason as well.

Pass Rush- Suggs supposedly is coming back leaner and meaner-we'll see. Ozzie signed Corey Redding who could excel here with a premier pass rusher on the other end. Ngata supposedly taking more of a role in getting to the QB this season, and they drafted Sergio Kindle who could be the steal of the draft. Oh yeah and Ozzie also drafted another mammoth to plug up the middle in Mt. Cody

DB's-While there were no big name free agent CB's available this year, and none still around when the Ravens drafted in the 2nd round they DID sign some veterans who are solid and can fill in until Fabian and Webb get healthy..hopefully Washington is ready by week 1. Once those two are back that means that the Ravens will have a TON of depth at CB
TE- It was clear that the Ravens needed desperately to have another TE on the roster to let Heap get out and do what he does best-catch passes. The Ravens then drafted Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta who can really help Cam give the Ravens some different looks by using multiple TE packages like he did with SD.

Kicker- Although I think that Billy Cundiff played far beyond expectation last season, they signed Shayne Graham who is one of the best in the business.

That being said, I just don't see any need that the Ravens have that they haven't filled to the best of their ability so far, so why trade valuable players like Mcgahee away (he's a goal line MACHINE)

Right now this tread does not even make sense! Troy Smith for Asante? Yeah ok when was the last time you saw a team trade a pro-bowl player for a no-bowl player? Ray Lewis fpr Patrick Willis? Are you serious? Why would S.F. trade a younger version of Ray for Ray? Who is towards the end of his carrer? Come On! Atleast throw some trades out that could happen, the ones I have heard so far, the CPU on Madden 10 would laugh at you! :34853_shakehead:

It's as likely as Smith for Asante, Lewis for Willis, or trading for Vilma and Aso. So actually you can apply what you said to basically every "idea" in this thread.

I still don't get the point of this thread lol. Player for player trades in the NFL are very rare, let alone a Troy Smith for Asante Samuel trade. Our roster is set until we have to cut it down. I still don't really understand what we really need in order to compete.

You're right, we don't need to make any more trades. It seems folks are having some fun with the topic (I can't say any more b/c the last time I said people were joking I got deleted).

Not really a trade but in an attempt to say the first good idea in this thread... we could sign Willie Anderson for Tackle depth in case of injury or Cousins has to face Woodley again :34853_doh:

I'm with you on this ed.s52. I think the team would only benefit from having him in camp, especially since he's still under contract with the team if he comes out of retirement.

As far as trades: At this point I feel we have addressed our needs. Time to roll with what we have!
