Rest in peace, Bob Probert

4 posts in this topic

I just read that Bob Probert has passed away. Definitely a sad day for hockey. Probert was one of the most feared players ever in the NHL.

Apparently he was boating with his family and developed severe chest pain. He collapsed and died a short time later.

I wonder if this sudden death has anything to do with his rough and dirty living he was doing outside the rink when he was playing. Probert had some problems when he was in the league but in recent years cleaned up his act and reputation big time. Anyone who wants to see a good hockey tilly search Bob Probert/Tie Domi and you will find multiple memorable fights between the two brawlers.

Bob was one for a pier-sixer from time to time, however, he had cleaned up to quite a degree, so I understand.

Such a loss at this time, yet he will be missed - especially by those who like what Don Cherry would call "rock 'em, sock 'em" hockey.
