The head of Activision (Bobby Kotick) wants to tack on a monthly subscription for people to play new Call of Duty games. He is targetting the PC gamers first...
We've heard it time and time again, but Activision CEO Bobby Kotick just can't stop talking about it: He wants the future of Call of Duty to include a subscription model of some sort. But that's not the only thing he reveals about Activision's future in a recent Financial Times story.

In the interview, Kotick suggested that as much as an astounding 60 percent Xbox Live Gold subscribers are primarily paying the Gold fee to play Call of Duty games. "We don’t really participate financially in that income stream. We would really like to be able to provide much more value to those millions of players playing on Live, but it’s not our network."

According to the article, Activision is planning to "aggressively support" a new line of gamer-friendly PCs from Dell and HP that are designed to be connected to TVs. If successful, this could grow the PC gaming market and give Activision more of an opportunity to launch a PC-only, subscription-based Call of Duty that could be work.
Dell or HP making a gamer Friendly pc is about a laugh riot . ever see thier gaming rig prices they are higher then Alienware and Falcon Northwest, ok well maybe not falcon but close. now here is what I do see they are now copying EA. they are going to kill online gaming. maybe when they do they will focus on the true part of gaming at hand the Single player campeign. most of these kids today dont know what a game without multiplayer is .

Sorry but I honestly won't buy another CoD game if they make you pay additional fees. The original CoD and the original Modern Warfare were the only games worthy of being played in single player as all the others are either poor remakes/re imaginings or mediocre storyline(MW2). I think I'll save my money then.

Us PC gamers dont have to use Activisions servers. There will be a third party mod with dedicated servers. same thing with mw2, and games that dont have multiplayer like GTA san andreas, etc. for console players on the other hand, lol.
