How Will Ravens Do In 2010?

41 posts in this topic

After having 9-7 record with 1 win in playoff against Patriots, we gained a solid draft class (even w/ disadvantage no-complementary), and signed in few solid veterans to fill in the voids. This seems to be a VERY promising year.

I'll make my prediction first,,,,

9/13 vs @JETS (nighttime): LOSE Cam Cameron will mix in too much plays in the early start being pass happy. He underrates Jets corners and fails. We change to running game and gets the game close but not enough. 9-14

9/19 vs @Bengals (afternoon): WIN Bengals fails on their lucky charms and Ravens gets more than ready. Solid run game, occasional pass. 21-10

9/26 vs Browns (afternoon): WIN Browns seeks to show Ravens new tricks with Jake Delhomme, we dominate them but they play better than last season 32-17

10/3 vs @Steelers (afternoon): WIN with <deleted for CoC violation> Ben gone and Steel fans with terrible towel quiets down after early Ravens score. 13-10

10/10 vs Broncos (afternoon): WIN After humiliating loss last season, Josh McDaniel has a solid gameplan ready and scores early against Ravens, but the heavy defense and running game of Ravens catches up in 3rd and 4th Qt 27-23

10/17 vs @Patriots (afternoon): LOSE Brady and Wes Welker gets ready this time and uses several 'Brady Skirt' tactic to get past Ravens defense. Referee high fives Brady and wins the game 26-32

10/24 vs Bills (afternoon): WIN Bills change their starting QB Edwards with Brohm, and finds that his even worse than predicted. Ravens release steam off the poor Bills and win. 37-3

11/7 vs Dolphins (afternoon): WIN Chad Henne does what he does best. Get his ball intercepted several times. Dolphins scores a 2 TD's with Marshall, but Ravens D prevents Dolphins from scoring any further. 23-14

11/11 vs @Falcons (night): WIN Battle of 3rd yr QBs - Flacco vs Ryan. Competitive game early, gets blowned by our D in 3rd/4th Qt. 24-17

11/21 vs @Panthers (afternoon): WIN Ray Rice destroys Carolina's D 32-10

11/28 vs Buccaneers (afternoon): WIN Buccaneer franchise considers moving to LA 37-6

12/5 vs Steelers (night): LOSE Physical game throughout the whole night, Our weak Corner slips out and gives <removed for CoC violation> Ben and Ward a TD on the last second. 14-17

12/13 vs @Texans (night): LOSE Cam Cameron mixes in random plays to give Flacco early interceptions from Texans strong corners. Drops Ravens morale but try to rally back and fails. 19-27

12/19 vs Saints (afternoon): LOSE Ray Rice runs a solid game, but our corner gives away too many opportunities to Drew Brees. Our Field Goal points loses to Saints TD passes. 16-24

12/26 vs Browns (afternoon): WIN Browns feeble offense are no match to Ravens D at Ravens home game. Jake tries, but fails to connect passes all day 20-9

1/2 vs Bengals (afternoon): WIN Bengals loses again, their lucky charms fails to work, and Cedric Benson gets ready for his suspension in upcoming 2011 season. 24-17

I just don't agree with some of the reasons you say that the Ravens will win/lose. I mean, one says "Cam mixes in random plays that will get the ball intercepted early" I think you have forgotten that Cam Cameron is our O.C and Joe Flacco is our QB. No matter what play Cam calls, it's always %100 Flacco's mistake if he throws a pick.

Also, don't you think that Cam Cameron knows what the Jet's corners can do just a little bit better than any of us here do? He has all summer to prepare for Rex's generic version of the Ravens.

It is silly, but atleast he's giving a description as to WHY he thinks we will loose as opposed to saying LOOSE.

P.S - we aint loosing to the Jets, the Texans or the Steelers this year.

I predict we will be 14 and 2 at the worst with probable losses to the Patriots and the Saints. However I hope we win these games and go 16 and zero. I have high hopes baby!!! GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah some of the predictions are shady, like Cam mixing up the playbook too much on the Jets, losing at home to the Steelers, losing to the Texans, and the Pats (isn't Welker gonna be on the PUP list when we play them anyways?)

Besides, I see us being at least a solid 12-4 team, good enough to win the division and a first round bye.

If we can stay healthy and our pass rush is improved...
If our rookies contribute on both sides of the ball...
If our corners can stay on their feet and make plays...
If Boldin and Stallworth can find the end zone...
If Ed Reed is healthy enough to contribute...
and the big one
If Joe can stay healthy and improve...

This will be one beast team at playoff time.

Let me help our new friend out a little bit. All your points are well taken. You just misspelled "When" 6 times.

Yeah true, but crazier things have happened in past season.

I thought the game between viking vs ravens on week 6 seemed to be on WIN column, then boom with last few seconds left viking lands a FG in middle of the field

My opinion is that we are better than every team we face this year. We are the best team on our schedule. So there is only one team that can beat us...

OURSELVES.

Although you can't win them all, every game is ours to lose and if we play to our full potential and don't let other teams "get lucky", we WILL be 16-0. But, sadly, we probably will end up losing some of those games.

IMO, our most probable losses are to the Jets, simply because we are away and Rex knows the our team inside out, the Pats because we are away and they will look to have vengence for last year's spanking, and the Bengals in the last game because we will probably have nothing to play for and Cincy may be playing for contention.

If we lose those games (or maybe some other ones) we will probably be 11-5 or 12-4, but like I said, the only team that can beat us is ourselves, so our record will depend on how many times we let weaker teams walk out with a win.

I don't see us losing to the Jets, Patriots or the Texans. We went into Reliant two years ago and stole the show, what have they done since then? Double Andre and Ed will for sure be back by that game. If they still don't have a run game, we should easily dominate.

I can actually see us losing to the Dolphins more than the Patriots. It's hard to run on Miami, plus they have an above-average secondary that could give Flacco some problems. The Patriots don't have Welker or a run game for our matchup.

I don't see why everyone is saying we'll lose to the Jets?!?!? I have two words why I think we'll win: Mark Sanchez. The third year QB with an immense amount of talent around him who put up Pro Bowl numbers last year, or the second year QB who could possibly slump even harder than last year without Thomas Jones, Leon Washington or Santonio Holmes? I like our chances of going 13-3, seriously.

Stop saying we'll lose to the damn Jets when they're as overrated as any other team I've seen in the last decade.

We've got a pretty easy schedule, going through it game by game...being generous to other teams I see 11-5. Being a bit more biased I think we can have a truly dominate season.

Honestly, I don't like prediction threads (all 92 of them), but I'll jump in on this one and say we'll see a 12-4 season.

Side note - above was a tough read bro....

How exactly does Rex know the Ravens "Inside and Out"? Yes Rex was with the Ravens orginization for over 10 years, but he was under the Harbaugh lead Ravens for one season.

Flacoo and Rice were both rookies when Rex was here. Niether Boldin nor Stallworth was here, the offensive line of Oher, Grubbs, Birk, Yanda, Gaither wasn't yet formed while Rex was here. We have 2 new rookie TEs, that we don't even know much about yet, so i don't see how Rex can know them inside and out. There are recent reports coming out that Cam is opening up the playbook even deeper for Flacco this year because of the weapons and the maturation of the 3rd year QB. So it's things about the offense that Ravens players haven't learned yet, can't imagine how Rex could know about it.

All those points were just on the offensive side of the ball. On defense Rex knows nothing about Ellerbe, Phillips, Foxworth, Carr, Kurger, Cody, Kindle, Harris, Hamlin, or A. Jones. Not to mention guys like Zibby, Nakamura, and McClain were only rookies when Rex left.

Most importantly, Rex is not some kind of defensive god. Yes he is a great DC and has a great defensive mind, but his defense can be beaten just like any other.

Now i'm not saying that there is noway we can possibly lose to the Jets, but some of the reasons that people give for losing to the Jets are just rediculous.

I don't understand this almost universal feeling that we lose to the patriots. I would never expect another result like the playoffs last year, but this is not the Patriots of old. We are a superior team in nearly every way

How great would that be, to make our claim as an elite team, by dominating the NFL darlings.

I actually think it will happen. I'm not sure about us dominating, but i feel we will beat them.

Last season, the Pats benefitted from serveral poor calls against the Ravens, and still needed a Mark Clayton drop to survive the game against us.

Then in the playoffs we completely destroyed them. Now you have what seems to be an even more balanced and dangerous Ravens team, i can definitely see us winning that game.

If the Ravens lose to the Saints, I'll cry. Personally, I think like 2006, the Ravens will shove the ball down the Saints throats. There is very few teams I can't stand losing to and the Saints are one of them. This one is in Baltimore. The Ravens will not let their fans down.

I also don't agree with losing to the Steelers both games. Like 2006, I think this is the year the Ravens sweep them.

Why is that? Except for last year, they're usually an insignficant team that the Ravens only play once every 4 years. I don't want to lose them (or anyone else) either, but there's several other teams that would be worse to lose to in my opinion.

I think maybe because historically, the Saints have always been the worst of the worst (until 2006 when they turned around) Also they don't have gigantic, physical receivers so our CB's should be able to keep up with no problem.

Since when do the Texans have strong corners? They lost Daunta Robinson to the Falcons and if they are such a strong crop.....why were they giving Frank "Pass Interference" Walker a tryout????

Maybe inside out was a little overstatement, but he certainly knows our team probably better than any other coach in the league. And I personally meant more play-wise and tendencies although I know we have changed a little, we are still the Ravens, just improved.

I Never said we will lose. I said that every game this year we have a better chance of winning than losing. I said the most PROBABLE losses are the one's I listed, which included the Jets.

I think we are a better team then the Jets and we should win that game, but I also think we are better than any team on our schedule, and I guarantee we don't go undefeated this year. We will lose some games we should win, and the Jets could be one of those if our offense in paticular is not completely in sync and that Rex knows some of our stuff as well as the fact that it is away.

Give me a break, what did you think I thought he was pulling a Bill Belichick on us?

I think we will do good but I refuse to say Super Bowl after Washington Capitals lost the first round of playoffs and the England National team barely made it out of group play before getting schooled by Germany. Do you get my drift?
