I Hate The Redskins

16 posts in this topic

What a clown for an owner, he's making all the decisions without the help from one of his most important people "The Head Coach." The Redskins next head coach is just a puppet on a string.

I disagreed with the firing of Brian Billick, but I like the hiring of John Harbaugh on the bases of he's a good guy and I can now see how he got the job. But at least Biscotti had enough brains to wait until he hired his head coach before they made any other decision.

I said it before, Dan Snyder buying the Washington Redskins was the best thing that ever happen to NFL football. One of the biggest jokes of a nfl franchise got THEE biggest joke for a nfl owner. It couldn't have happen to a better team.

Oooh...them's fightin' words. LOL

Well, I can't fault you for disliking the Redskins, since a lot of Ravens fans seem to. I, for one, have slight loyalty to the 'Skins because of my dad. But other than that, I bleed purple and black.

Back to the topic at hand, though, I agree that Daniel Snyder is a joke of an owner.

Frankly, he's a prime example of what would happen if a FAN were to take control of their favorite NFL team (no offense to any of you).

See, it's a bad sign when an owner arrogantly refuses to be addressed by his first name except only by family members and VERY close friends (and even still, he prefers DANIEL). Although I understand the need for formality in a business setting, there is such a close relationship between the media and a public entity like the NFL that the familiarity of a first-name basis is almost implied.

Honestly, he has shown very little competance in running the team, and his style of ownership reminds me of a kid in a candy store, particularly his handling of free agency.

He's specifically why I'm glad the Ravens have Steve Bisciotti and I'm hoping, for my dad's sake, that he won't have to suffer through many more miserable seasons once this coaching search is over.

I think HATE is a strong word. I don't hate the Redskins, but many Baltimoreans do because of how Jack Kent Cooke blocked an NFL franchise for us those many years. (Hey he's gone now and we've got the Ravens which was like falling in a pile of SH@# and coming up smelling like a rose if you ask me )

I always respected what Coach Gibbs did, though, with the Redskins in the 80's and 90's and you have to respect what he did this last year. I'm sorry to see HIM leave them and football.

But meddlesome owners who make decisions without the benefit of their organization's leadership, are making a big mistake, if that is infact what is happening there now.

How fortunate we are to have an owner and orgainization that listens to everyone's voice, even the fans on its own message board.

I'm with you on this one, I am a Redskins fan and a Raven's fan. My father is a HUGE Redskin's fan and has had season tickets for a long time until recently because he hasn't had the time lately to go to the games anymore (He owns his own business, so he puts in over 70 hours a week). They aren't even in our conference so having a AFC, and NFC team is fine by me. I obviously am far more loyal to the Ravens than the Redskins, but I don't dislike them at all.

Washington Redskins=Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore Ravens=NY Yankees

we may not win every year, but we bring in the talent and pay ($12 m for McNair) even if it blows up in our faces, from time to time.

First of all I despised Daniel Snyder for buying the Redskins franchise because he has done a terrible job of ownership throughout his years of owning the team and as a result has become one of the most hated sports franchise owners next to Al Davis of the Raiders. His ability to produce a team that is over payed and still doesn't produce results for its fans astounds me. I mean when are they going to have a consistent season? Losing games and trying to win the rest of your games at the end of the season should have never become a trend year in and year out but unfortunately it has, no matter the talent they bring in. As far as my feelings for the team goes I have always liked both the Redskins and Ravens, especially growing up in a part of Maryland that was closer to the District everyone was always talking about Redskins football and naturally I followed them from a young age. When the Ravens came along I was excited to finally have a franchise who represented Maryland and that began my loyalties to both teams. Within the last couple of years I became unfairly pitted between my favoritism of both teams due to friends and family, like I know many fans of the metropolitan area have gone through. I finally decided on having more loyalty towards the Ravens because I preferred the team for one reason or another more than the Redskins but I would still root for the Skins because of my Washingtonian roots.

Any fans of the Ravens/Redskins experienced the same thing?

I detest the ***skins and consider their name a racial slur. On the other hand, I get a real kick out of Snyder since as long as he owns that team, they'll be in constant turmoil. I hope he owns them and continues his meddling for many, many years.

My father in law is a Redskins fan and when we go to the games our seats are directly in front of Snyder's box. I have heard that man yell some pretty ignorant things.

~side note - I took a great deal of pleasure wearing my Ravens jersey to the pre-season game last year, I know he saw it.

I feel for their fans, Snyder is an idiot. That said, I LOVE, love, love Bisciotti.

Don't really care about the redskins. It's fun to watch the golden boy trying to buy superbowls. We draft, they buy.

The only thing I liked about the Redskins was Joe Gibbs. Their owner is one of those volitile rich guys with a big toy.

One thing Snyder does do for us is make us appreciate just how good we have it here in the Ravens.

You comment of McNair reminds me of how a few years ago, Sammy Sosa was supposed to help the O's offensively, and he should did, hitting a whopping 14 HR's.

Snyder obviously has no idea what he's doing. Hiring an offensive and defensive coordinator befpre a head coach?

I'd say he's doing better than Al Davis. Mailing a resignation?

No, no, Al Davis is in a league of his own when it comes to bad ownership.

I admire Davis's desire and passion, but the ability just isn't there when it comes to being an hands-on owner. Davis is TOO hands-on, and he's hurt the team more than helped recently.

Trading Jon Gruden to the Buccaneers was arguably the biggest mistake he's ever made, since his Raiders lost to Gruden's Bucs in the Super Bowl and haven't had a winning season for the five years since.

Point is, Al Davis needs to just step back and stop trying to be the puppetmaster or he'll lose his team and its fans (if he hasn't already). If anything, Daniel Snyder's almost an improvement from him. ALMOST. :P

I agree and disagree with a lot of comments on this thread.

I never used to care one way or the other about the Redskins until that MNF game at old Memorial Stadium vs. the Baltimore Colts. That's the game that began my strong dislike for them. Jack Kent Crook really fired it up when after the Colts bolted and became the Dolts or Phony Ponies, tried blocking Baltimore from getting a new franchise. Thank goodness the good folks of Laurel, Maryland blocked any chance of the Redskins moving north, closer to Baltimore.

The Ravens do have an owner that was a fan, remember Steve has always been a big fan of Baltimore sports.

I couldn't care less about Joe Gibbs or NeckCar Gas Guzzling Races.

You want to race? Get on a bicycle and try out "Le Tour de France".

And why anyone say the Ravens=Yanks. No way.

Ravens = class, Yanks = evil.
