Trade Boller?

15 posts in this topic

With a possibility of Michael Vick being jailed and/or suspended and the Falcons now lacking a starter with a winning record, would Boller fit and could we pick up maybe someone of value from them? I'm thinking maybe D'Angelo Hall to pressure Samari at least for the starting job. Petrino likes strong armed quarterbacks (Brian Brohm) and runs a west coast offense, which Boller would be more comfortable in than ours and Hall couldn't possibly eat any more cap room than Boller currently does.

As much as I like D'Angelo Hall, I can't see the Falcons giving him up in exchange for Boller.

We might get a 6th or 7th round pick for him, though...a fifth if we're lucky.

On the other hand, the Dolphins only gave up a 5th for Green. That might be asking too much.

It might be, but we can probably throw in a quality running back like Mike Anderson (who runs similar to Michael Bush) to temp the Falcons. I love having Mike Anderson on the team, but we rarely use him and he could be a strong runner for the Falcons. I think Willis and Musa would handle the load just fine.

Deangelo Hall vs Boller? That's insane.

I think we could get a mid round pick for Boller, because he's better than David Carr. Im thinking 3rd round pick maybe.

How do you figure that? Carr put up better numbers than Boller behind an O-Line that was far worse.

No one will ever give a third round pick for Boller...and the idea of the Falcons making an even trade for him by sending us D'Angelo Hall is like expecting the Ravens to give up Chris McAlister for Sage Rosenfels.

Far worse?

The guy has no pocket presence at all. He doesn't know when to get rid of the ball. It doesn't matter where he plays, he will get sacked a lot because of that. Our O-line was terrible as well, but McNair has pocket presence. He knows what to do under pressure. Boller and Carr don't. Plus Carr's deep ball is horrendous.

There is no way the falcons would ever go for this....the already have Joey Harrington. If they wanted to trade for a QB they would have gone after Trent Green or Culpepper. Boller will be a Raven in 07, cant get rid of him now. No team is going to trade for a player that is going to be a free agent after the season especially when they know that the Ravens are not going to re-sign him with our Heisman winning QB on board now.

You said Boller was better than Carr. I'm saying that the line Carr played behind in Houston was far worse than the line Boller played behind in Baltimore. If you don't believe that, check out the number of sacks they gave up over the past few years. The Texans O-Line was the laughing stock of the league. Despite that, Carr still put up better numbers than Boller.

Either way, the Ravens will never get a third round pick for Boller.

Or we could keep Boller becasue in a year or two Mcnair will be gone and I'm thinking Troy Smith is backup at best, but maybe thats just me. I don't like the idea of trying Boller yet again, but hes better than putting in another young guy or forcing in a veteran. He will do untill we pick up another solid starter, but in all honesty I don't know if the ravens will be too good after this season with age/contracts a huge issue.

<_<<_< To be honest, I don't think Boller should be traded. As good a Troy Smith is, he has yet to play, let alone start in an NFL game. One game doesn't define a QB but the Nat'l Championship game against the Gaytors proved what all the scouts said about. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The Ravens have one the better QB situations in the league right now. We have a veteran leader in McNair, an experienced back-up in Boller and of course a Heisman Trophy winner in Troy Smith.

I have to agree with you plus we need 3 qb's in our line up

I don't think the Ravens will trade Boller when his contract is up after the season anyway. They'll just let his contract expire and let him go as a free agent.
