Roy Williams Available?

I don't know. I'd love for him to come here. But I don't know if the Ravens can afford to lose draft picks.

I think Roy Williams would be worth a look.

He's been one of my favorite receivers to watch since being drafted out of Texas in 2004, and his highlight reel catches have been spectacular. He's been largely responsible for Jon Kitna's "career resurgence" (if you wanna call it that), and he has all of the intangibles that you look for in an NFL wide receiver.

Given his toughness, size, and ability to play through injuries, he would be worth the investment, despite a crowded receiving corps in Baltimore.

However, Detroit would be smart to retain Williams while Calvin Johnson tries to emerge as the lethal receiving threat that he's been hyped to be. Johnson needs Williams as much as Williams needs Johnson, strictly for the respect that defenses will give both receivers by playing them each one-on-one, or suffering for it with the extra attention given to one player over the other.

Trading a 2nd rounder for him would be like giving up our WR pick. I would take proven talent over speculated talent any day of the week. The question is if we can pay him any money when he gets here. We don't have that much.

I agree. Roy Williams, does a lot on his own. Especially with sub-par performances from his QB's. He is a very tough , tall, athletic WR. A 2nd round pick for Roy Williams, is well worth it.

Roy Williams is a good player but if you watch him he generally drops a lot of easy balls, he will make the greatest circus catch in the world, then immediately drop a 10 yd slant route. I think Roy would be an asset no doubt, but I think if we are shopping for wide recievers in FA, we should look more towards Fitzgerald and Walker, they are a little more consistent, albeit more expensive.

exactly, thats the tradeoff. I'd really like to see him come here because he's basically what we'd wanna look for in a receiver from the draft. only difference is he costs a lot more but can have an immediate impact on the team. If we find a good receiver in the draft, we get him for relatively cheap but the payoffs may not be as big or even at all. It's most definately worth looking into.

That's a relief!

when I saw 'Roy williams Availible', I thought who would want Roy Williams!! especially when we have two quality safeties who arent pretty close to being banned.

I thought we were talking about the Dallas S.

but as were talking about the Lions WR, then I think he would be a good acquisition, and It would be a good move for him as you would expect alot of improvement out of Calvin Johnson, and he may even blossom into a No 1 receiver for them this year.

I was worried that would come up.

But I don't see the point in going after Fitzgerald or Walker. Fitzgerald would require a first round pick and more. Javon Walker is just an above average talent with a huge ego.

He would be ideal, problem is cap room. we would have to let suggs go and maybe someone else. I would love to have him though.

My opinion , he wants out of detriot as well.

He wants to have a chance at a superbowl. Plus is Detriot really that great of a place?

I agree. Plus the Lions spent a first round pick to get him. I dont see them taking any less then that. Williams is also their most productive receiver. I know everyone has high hopes for Calvin Johnson but he was less then spectacular this past season and Detriot has seen its share of first round busts at WR, Mike Williams and Charles Rogers, anyone? I dont see them trading the only guy that to this point has not been a bust,

And a huge contract to go with that ego. And Fitz counts close to 10 million against the cap. No thanks.

If McNair and Ogden retire it wont be a problem. If they dont we could always ask the two of them and Ray to take a pay cut. I think they would do it because they want to win. We also may have the room if we cut Rolle but then we need to find someone to replace him.

Alright neepo, this is not your blog...

But you're right we could probably offer him a box of cheerios for a first round draft pick and he'd take it.

I hihgly doubt that Detroit would give him up for only a 2nd round without getting something in return for his position, just the negative PR they'd get would argue against it.

But hey we can dream an if they would do it I would be more than pleased to see Roy Williams in purple and BLACK.

Thanks to theFranchise for pointing out the error.

yeah.. roy williams is a stud, and the lions are willing to negotiate.. they also put on the block DT Shaun Rogers.. one of their key defensive players.. im sure the ravens will look into Williams, but i dont see it happening

As much as I would like to have Roy on the Ravens I have to agree I don't see the Lions giving him up for what we'd be willing to lose for him. But never count Ozzie out, maybe a draft day trade or something? You never know...

it's amazing how every WR that was hyped up on the lions didn't pan out! but roy williams, i feel is different. this would give troy a big, tall, strong and physical target to grow with because roy is still very young. there's a crop of WR that are available for the right price and many would fit the criteria of the ravens. all i can say is, the GM should do what is expected and atleast call these teams and see what it would take to pry them away. don't bank the future on one guy, but if it's doable then do it!

Roy Williams IS different. He is their only WR that has panned out to date. He's been to a Pro Bowl and everything. I was so upset that they drafted Calvin Johnson because I do not see him breaking the mold like Williams did. I only caught the Lions a few times this season but he looked horrible when I did see him play. Thats why I think its highly unlikely that this would be doable. But with Matt Millan you never know.
