Benson Arrested

Apparently he was arrested in Austin, Texas after punching a bouncer in the face after Benson was thrown out for starting an altercation with another bar patron.

They get so many second, third and forth chances and they continue to throw them away.

Looks like Benson isn't getting that contract extension after all.

Are we sure it wasn't a Bengal that robbed Hampton's house?

I kid, I kid.

The Bengals may be where players go for their second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh chances... however they never seem to learn their lesson. Even Benson, who people were saying had turned over a new leaf after going to Cincy and becoming relevant again.

Sounds like Benson may have anger and alcohol issues. Or, he could just be a jerk with a sense of entitlement (see: Albert Haynesworth and his ex-wife's allegations). Either way, if he really felt like he was being wronged that night, he didn't need to throw punches. With all that money, he could've taken them to court for harassment and easily won. Instead, he'll be on the wrong side of the courtroom soon enough and he'll likely be getting a phone call from the Commish (if he already hasn't).

How many Bengals is that now that have been arrested? Can we keep count on 2 hands any more?
If we're talking on the active roster alone, that's barely under two hands' worth. If we're including former players from the past five years, that's a whole different story...

Over under, 30 minutes Adam Pacman Jones makes this list....

And another thing, why didn't Santonio Holmes get traded to the Bengals. He throws shot glasses at womens face. Him and Benson would get along so well. They have so much in common...assult.

Marvin is doing a fine job.

Of course. He gets a winning season every, what, three to five years, and three to five of his players get in trouble with the law every year.

But seriously, Benson is a repeat offender. I can see him getting suspended.

If the rule about consistency in football applies to athletes' criminal patterns, then one incident is a fluke, two means you're consistent, and three means you're the real deal.

With the way things stand right now, if the Ravens don't win the division, I might have to wear a bag over my head.

On a side note... assuming Benson gets suspended at least 4 games, Cinncinatti is in real trouble.

Benson was the life of their offense last year and even if they have more passing weapons, the lack of a run game will just result in more pass heavy sets and possible double teams on Chad Johnson and more picks on Carson Palmer.

Pretty much this seemingly screws the Bengals since now their starter I believe would be Bernard Scott since Larry Johnson went to the Skins.

Unless there defense steps up into the top 3 this year, they get another great RB, or Benson has only a couple game suspension, I don't see them contending for the division title.

I'm going with a 8-10 game suspension on this one. Repeat offender. Too bad the Bengals got rid of Larry Johnson.

Looks like we might see Bernard Scott make an emergence. If I were the Bengals I'd get Leonard more opportunity to pop people right down the middle.

8-10? Wow!

I was thinking more along the lines of 6 games, maximum. Of course, before that, Benson will probably be suspended indefinitely while his legal troubles get settled.

I just popped my head in over at the Bengals Board. Man is everyone freaking out. They are all over the place with speculation. They already started coming up with excuses for Cedrics behavior. They are everywhere from trading for Lynch for a 3rd and 4/5th to Lendale White. Wow! Thank God we havent had to deal with this kind of nonsense. Knock on wood.

I'd love for Landwhale White to run for the Bengals. The man can't even stay in shape or listen to his coaches, I'd love watching him gasping for air on the sidelines after a 2 yard gain.

Bringing in White would be a disaster for the Bengals, and I'd love every moment of it.

We'll see if this is true, but have been told by a league source familiar with Cedric Benson's case that it is "very minor."

Actually, I think signing Lendale may be a pretty smart move at this point. But wow... it's one of those situations where you don't expect it necessarily, but once it happens, there's no reason to be surprised. Now it's time for Cincy to pay....again

Well, somebody is lying, as parts of the story by the bartender and the police directly clash with the story of Benson and his lawyer. Original story states:
Aguinaga said police interviewed witnesses and reviewed video surveillance cameras that caught the incident. Detectives invited Benson to speak with them last week but he didn't show up for a scheduled meeting, she said.
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37999529/ns/today-entertainment/

But a comment from Benson's attorney states:
"Two weeks ago while he was in Cincinnati, Cedric was contacted by a detective investigating the incident in Texas. Apparently, the second man who approached Cedric is an employee of the night club and claimed that Cedric punched him. Cedric agreed to be interviewed upon his return to Texas and provided his return date. Cedric was not contacted by the detective upon his return.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/06/29/cedric-benson-claims-he-was-the-victim-not-the-aggressor/

so..... ....any ideas? Makes me question why Benson would directly challenge the police's statement and yet still feel so confident about his case. Something is up imo.

Something is up, and if we can see the video, I'm sure we can figure out who was lying, I mean the VY thing was clear when we saw the video of him getting violent. Now for Benson, nobody will never know what really happened, because the media will report what they think we should hear.

If Benson does get suspended, well I'll say 4-8 games due to him being a repeat offender as he has been in trouble with the law before.

What I do find funny is how Bengals fans are going crazy and naming Lynch and White when Lynch has had his troubles and White is out of shape, and they don't need to trade for White since Seattle cut him weeks ago.

Edit: I was looking at Adam's twitter and I came across this: "Bengals RB Cedric Benson has hired attorney David Cornwell, who also represented Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger." Via The Man Adam Schefter's twitter. Now that is interesting.

Goodell is throwing the hammer down this year. A repeat offender (and if charges are pressed) could call for a big suspension. He gave Big Ben 4-6 and he was never convicted of anything. Benson got drinking while boating in 2008. Drinking while driving in 2008. And now a possible assualt charge while drinking in 2010.

Three strikes. Trouble.

But your're probably right 10 is to much. 6-8 games is more reasonable.
