Great Jerks In Football History

67 posts in this topic

I got a whole list:

Phillip Rivers, come on, yelling at Chargers and Colts fans was just classless. And he's always running his mouth. In fact, that whole team really gets under my skin. They are the biggest bunch of babies in the NFL.

I didn't really have a problem with Rivers yelling at the Colts fans, mainly because they booed a 14 or 15-year old girl.

Plus I found it funny, and I'm sure Rivers's language was mild in comparison to the heckling he got from the Colts faithful (who were celebrating his injury).

Yeah, that was classless of them but Phillip yelled at them before that even happened, didnt he?

It's sort of a catch-22 when it comes to judging that situation, but at the end of the day, Philip Rivers is a professional athlete being paid a king's ransom to play a kid's game.

Keyphrase: PROFESSIONAL.

Therefore, he needs to demonstrate better professionalism and not mouth off to the fans like that. Especially not with that display of arrogance after the Colts were unable to convert and the Chargers sealed that game. I mean, Philip, c'mon, it's not as if YOU were on the field and scored that game-winning TD...Billy Volek kinda saved your hide there, buddy...

And I know there's plenty of defensive players who do that same thing, but they usually reserve their trash-talking for their peers and NOT for the fans. And in all honesty, when you're a franchise QB, you're expected to conduct yourself differently than a defensive player, mainly because the mindset is different as the QB since you're supposed to set the gold standard for your team at arguably the most important position in the sport. QB's are expected to be, in a word, MATURE.

Oh yeah, Lenny Little. Forgot about that s.o.b.

Also, I don't know much about Sapp's history but that sounds very very ummm... jerky.

Lastly, I can't believe (sarcasm) that nobody's mentioned Siragusa for his flop on Gannon. That must be an awkward moment at NFL commentator parties. "Hey Tony, thanks for taking me out of the playoffs. Oh, and congratulations for winning the superbowl."

How about Deion "prime time" sanders? He's classy now, but I've heard that he was a real jerk in his prime, in his San Fran days.

He played for the 49'ers one year.

Anyway, How can you say that about him? Other than his showboating I never heard of him being a jerk. He had every right to show boat seeing as how he was an 8 time all-pro selection, played both offense and defense and had a MLB career at the same time. He was the defenition of elite athlete and we probably wont see another like him for a while.

Yeah he was non-stop. When football started he went to football but played professional baseball too starting in '89 same year he started football he hopped between the Yankees, Braves, Reds, and Giants until 2001. In '92 he led the league in triples. He is also the only person to Hit a Homerun and score a TD in the same week in proffesional sports. That record will never be broken.

I read some where that one game against the Falcons he got an interception and ran up the field and kinda "mugged" the entire Falcons sideline all the way to the endzone.

Yeah but thats different then singling out the team's head coach and confronting him. <coughcoughRodneyHarrisoncoughcough> One is just boo-able while the other straight up classless.

I can see where you're coming from. Guess I just found it really entertaining. Plus, it fits the persona of their team, for better or worse. Agree to disagree?

Back on topic, Conrad Dobler did some pretty dirty stuff. Biting, solar plexus punching, gouging, and so on. As an offensive lineman, he was usually in good position for such shenanigans.

I'll bet this article will sway a few:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...stevens270.html

Jerramy Stevens - Always new he was an idiot, I just never realized what a total human [profanity deleted] he is. UW, the Seattle Seahawks and the Justice System in Washington State has to take some of the blame for him reaching his maximum scum potential as well.

I never understood why the Seahawk fans hated him, now I do.

Chris Henry is at the top of my list - little gangster punk is a horrible role model and for that fact so is half the Bengals roster. Where does Marvin Lewis draft his players from, Rikers island? Pelican Bay?

He's another dead-beat, pedophile. Have you ever seen that "Robot Chicken-esque" video about him attending a dog fight at Mike Vicks house? "Hey Mike, can I get a juice box for my date? She's thirsty."

What about Rae Carruth? Murder would definately constitute someone being a jerk!

Ray Ray is an afterthought. But yeah murder makes him something like a monster and not in a good way.

Rae Carruth is not Ray Lewis. Rae Carruth paid to have his pregnant girlfriend murdered. He was a wideout for the Panthers.
