[Blogs] Ravens Agree To Terms With QB Bulger

109 posts in this topic

This is better for us, because now we have a proven pro bowl quarterback as a backup, a guy who won't have a big ego and is just looking for work, and who can give joe the benefit of quality veteran advice and experience. Now we can trade Troy Smith and make him happy, and possibly get a draft pick or another backup player (preferably a cornerback) in return.

It's a great move on the Ravens part, because in this league anything can happen. It's a smart man that prepares for the unforseen things in life and a foolish one that doesn't.I'm glad to be a Ravens fan and even happier that the front office continues to add quality depth.Go Ravens!!

You can almost bet that Jim Zorn was all over this decision. He knows what can happen to a team if its most experienced #1 goes down. Lets face it Joe was not very effective last year because he played hurt in the second half. Now they have the ability to put Flacco on the sideline and let a proven veteran take the field if Flacco is not 100%. Keeping Joe healthy until December and January is absolutely necessary.

This looks like a really good move. Great insurrance for a SB run.
Gotta have a proven QB incase the terrible thing happens.

FO and coaches are just planning ahead for worst case scenario.

This is good mainly for two reasons. 1) Joe Flacco needs a veteran backup QB to help him through situations. If you take a look around the NFL there are plenty of veteran QB's past their prime who are there to help young quarterbacks master the NFL. 2) This means Flacco is NOT a shoe in to be a starter this season. If he screws up a bunch I think we have a decent enough backup QB for him to be replaced. Ozzie knows what he's doing. This is a good move because EVERY position on an NFL football team is important. Anything can happen since the NFL has injuries left and right.

Doesn't Bulger have to pass a physical still? Hope thats good to go or all these threads are for naught.

My thought is this, Flacco has had 2 tries to get over the hump. this will be his third and last. Ravens management has decide to pay Bulger more than Flacco therefore, Bulger will finish this year as the starter and Flacco will be out!

Haha, you'd think these trolls would at least put forth some real effort.

The only thing I dont like about this is we will probably have to release, trade or cut either Smith or Beck and I like both guys.

MAKE NO MISTAKE...Bulger is the veteran back-up we have never had.He knows his role, excepted it when he signed and has the experience to be a more then capable back-up...Joe is the man,no question!

Flacco will be the starter and is a shoe in for the starter. Bulger is for mentoring and a backup should Flacco get hurt. Stop drinking the koolaid folks!
