Steve Smith Breaks Arm Playing Flag Football

17 posts in this topic

Not much to say here. Steve Smith breaks his arm playing a casual game of flag football with kids. He'll be sidelined for a couple weeks of camp but is expected to be ready for the season opener.

It was with a bunch of kids too. Go Figure. He plays smash mouth football, getting up-ended by strong CBs and rarely gets injured. But then he plays some flag football w/ kids, slips, and breaks an arm.

Take him off my FF list--seriously hope he gets better soon.

Yeah I think this one of the reasons why it is best to have a fantasy Draft in August closer to the season. Than again it is also fun(sort of) to see if your guys can stay healthy if you have a draft early. First the Panthers lose Thomas Davis for the season and now Steve Smith for most likely training camp. Hopefully this isn't the beginning of the injury bug in Carolina. Get well Steve!

That would be a bad idea. I'm like Ozzie Newsome when it comes to these type of situations. Other drafters will pass on Steve Smith because of the broken arm and Matt Moore, I'm hoping to get him as a steal.

His arm will recover just fine for the regular season and the attention that the Panthers running game will command will give Steve Smith a shot at making some plays. I won't reach for Steve Smith by any means, but he might come at a discount.

Steve Smith was still a top 15 in targets last year despite Matt Moore playing in 7 games. It's not to shabby.

Amazing that such a tough, physical player is taken out during flag football... flag football! Glad to hear he'll be back in time for most of Training Camp.

I don't know if someone said this but he didn't break his arm playing with kids. It was in an adult flag football game (which he was probably tearing up). Still, after all the hits that he takes in contact football, you wouldn't think that flag football would break his arm. Maybe he will pull a Drogba and come back in a week and play. I doubt it, its a little different with soccer, but I can't blame Smith for this one. Like Wilbon said, all of these players violate contract rules. They are active, you gotta expect them to do active things.

At least he was playing flag football and not riding a motorcycle without a helmet. What kind of an idiot would do something like that.

I do find it ironic that Steve Smith as tough as he is gets hurt during a game of flag football lol. I hope he heals up fast enough to at least make the first preseason game. I wanna see how our first team CBs will stack up against elite receivers as early as possible
