Old Cartoon Show From The Sixties

22 posts in this topic

Last week, someone forwarded to me the opening of an old cartoon from the late sixties - 1969, to be exact.

The show was called "Cattanooga Cats", and it featured a pop-rock band consisting of four cats, who got into adventures and also made music. The videos of the songs from the show have a bit of psychedelic and op-art influence to them, and the series has been a cult classic for some time.

I was wondering if any of you here have ever heard of this program, as It's been a few days over a week, and I'm getting into the songs and the stories of these characters like a fan.

I welcome your comments.

Sounds great, but I'm 36 and that was before my time. Don't ever remember re-runs of it.

Yes, it had its own coolness, especially when you see the music videos in this day and age.

Also, one of the foursome was a girl cat - singer/dancer Kitty Jo. The rest of the group were guys - Country, Scoots and Groove were their names. I have learned of this from reading about the series.

Cal, you can find quite a bit of the Cats on YouTube. Just enter the name, "Cattanooga Cats", in their search engine.

That's true, my friend, "Cattanooga Cats" was a Hanna-Barbera production, and it has aired quite a few times since its initial debut - I believe the latest was on Boomerang.

I remember them (I'm 47). They were OK. There were many more H-B cartoons I liked much better.

I looked it up on Youtube and he has his own channel. His show has a rating of... I can't believe I'm typing this... "Viewer Discretion is Advised - Mildly Violent or Disturbing".

Thanks for the pic, Zham, this should really get quite a few people thinking, and speaking, of the show.

Now, there has been talk from time to time of a possible live action "Cattanooga Cats" movie from Warner Brothers, mostly due to the cult following the series has, and were there to be such a movie made, I may just take in a showing - just to see for myself if it lives up to expectations.
