Madden 11 Ravens Video

31 posts in this topic

I found a video on Operation Sports with some Ravens v. Titans gameplay from Madden 11. I must say, the run blocking looks improved, but the Boldin TD catch should never have happened. The commentary also still seems to be a bit bland.Video Link

It would be great for the game to actually realize what's out of bounds and what's not... Please, no more LB's jumping 18ft in the air to intercept a pass over the middle... Also, how can LB's keep up with WR's...

What are you trying to say here? Lol. I feel you on that LB keeping up with Wr. How can Phillips or Meriman keep up with Andre Johnson from the Texans.

the running looks pretty bad...and that was a straight up disgraceful attempt at imitating Ray Lewis' pregame dance...yikes. Also the commentary is mundane once again. I know in NBA 2k they have commentary that runs while the game is playing, not just after a play is made. I wish EA would get to work and put in real commentary because every year its the same and it really gets to be annoying how bland it is. Also Flacco probably won't engage in a pump up huddle with Ray Ray either, he's more of a laid-back and focused dude imo. no competition for madden = the same game every year

Oh nice this leans me into the category of maybe buying the game. Honestly though they should make it so you can go up to 6v6 for OTP, this would work great because 6 players would equal a QB, RB, TE, two WR and a FB. 3 on 3 still isn't bad though

I think you got it wrong, this is Madden 10, isnt it? Looks no different presentation wise. Ea fails again.

EA put their big work into Madden 10, gameplay and presentation wise. Everyone knows what to expect when a new Madden comes out. What do you expect? EA to change the presentation every year to differentiate itself from each yearly iteration? About the only thing EA can do with the presentation is to incorporate ESPN into it, however they seem to be against that idea (since they've had the ESPN license for how long and failed to use it until this year's NCAA).

EA is apparently working on the gameplay for this year's Madden more so than the presentation. Yes, we all know it won't be that huge a leap from 10, but there's really only so much someone can do with a football game. The sport itself doesn't change much either, so the video is much the same. Sure, there's a handful of things EA needs to address engine wise, but they haven't done so after all these years (both before and after the deal with the NFL license), so chances are they aren't going to address it anytime soon. What, in my mind, it boggles down to, is whether or not it's fun. Madden 10 was fun, the most fun I've had with a Madden game in ages. So I don't see any reason to say Madden 11 won't be as equally fun, we'll just have to see how the new features pan out.

Regardless, that video was from an E3 demo, it seems. No matter the fact that the games comes out in two months, it could have been an older, rougher demo before things were streamlined and fleshed out. It never made sense to me why people bashed a game based on a demo, and not the full version. Madden garners alot of flak since it became the only NFL game around, but the game does not look "terrible" or "pretty bad". It looks like Madden with a few new yearly gimmicks thrown in. You know, like everyone expects every year? EA isn't going to take the leaps and bounds they took with Madden 10, that's never been their style and I don't expect it to change.

As dumb and ridiculous as the whole idea of the EA Pass is, it only affects those who buy the game used. Those who buy Madden 11 (or any game that uses the system) used and buy the pass are the ones supporting it, not those who buy the games new.

Secondly, don't act like EA's the only one doing it/thinking about it/going to implement it. There are numerous other companies that are looking into using their own similar systems. Ubisoft is one example.

I've got some Ravens ratings from various sites and people from the E3 build. Anquan Boldin - 91, Ray Lewis - 94, Ed Reed - 97, Ray Rice - 90, LeRon McClain - 90, Ben Grubbs - 94, Matt Birk - 91, Jared Gaither(at right tackle) - 86, Haloti Ngata - 94, Terrell Suggs - 90, Sam Koch - 86. Not bad but I think that Ray Lewis, Ray Rice, and Koch should have been rated higher from what I've seen.

Ngata makes his first Pro Bowl and he is rated lower than last year :(
Ed Reed is in decline :(
That's BS if Ray Rice is ranked that low. He's good but better than that, at least a 95 IMO.
And Boldin seems to be in decline as well :( Ah well he hasn't been a #1 threat at WR in a long time so I can understand.

EDIT- Nvm about Boldin, I'm being selfish. He's a Top 10 WR in the game. Nobody is a 99 at WR this year.

"Andre Johnson (HOU) – 98
Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) – 97
Brandon Marshall (MIA) – 96
Reggie Wayne (IND) – 96
Randy Moss (NE) – 95
Roddy White (ATL) – 93
Steve Smith (CAR) – 92
DeSean Jackson (PHI) – 91
Calvin Johnson (DET) – 91
Wes Welker (NE) – 91
Anquan Boldin (BAL) – 91
Chad Ochocinco (CIN) – 91"

94 is about right for Ray, he cant do some of the things that he used to be able to do, or that Patrick Willis can do now. But he can still dominate in rush defense, and can still blitz like a demon.

Those ratings looks pretty accurate to me, I'm glad they didn't be cheap with Suggs this year as they could have with his bad year. EA's ratings are always a little whack though, Ngata makes a pro bowl and he gets worse, Suggs had half the year he had before and he gets better.
