BOLDnPurPnBlack: I enjoy reading your posts, you know that! They are always well thought out and you always include plenty of support for your opinions. I just can't hang with you on the T.O. issue because I truly despise the man and the player. True he has abilities, I just rather he use them elsewhere!

On second thought, I wouldn't mind bringing T.O. in for camp, work his butt off, throw him nothing but slants across the middle or crossing patterns during preseason games and then cut him on Monday afternoon before the Jets game!

I know. I'm a cold hearted (place your descriptive here)! I just can't help myself!

Has Marvin Harrison retired or what?
Yeah, last year from what I read, he wanted at least 4 million dollars and he was 37 or something with knee surgeries in both knees. Apparently he is too prideful and won't take anything less than 4 million dollars. So he unless something crazy happens, he is going to sail into the sunset.

Wow really, should i even comment?

I really don't know what the problem is. And again, I just said I wouldn't mind signing him. In other words, its not a move I'm gonna look at and say, "wth are we doing?!" Instead, it would be, "well this makes some sense. Nothing significant, but I'm not against it."

People take comments the wrong way. Its not like bringing up the idea that he might be a serviceable option implies that I WANT him here. I'm just neutral about it. You guys have to read what we SAY and not make judgements instantly.

Now if you wonder why I said those other things about Troy and Beck, here ya go:

If anyone thinks that Troy (and Beck for the matter) playing well against 2nd and 3rd stringers in border line meaningless games makes them "proven," please think again. Injuries can happen at any time, even to the most significant players. With that said, Troy or Beck backing up Flacco with no veteran player as a mentor would more than likely would not bode well for the team. Anyone who disagrees feel free to explain why.

PS - To the people who would say, "well we'll just rely on the running game more if Flacco goes down," Well some people have said in the past that poor QB play has been the main reason, not the ONLY reason, but the main reason for our downfall in recent years, particlarly in the playoffs. And I completely agree. That's why I would take a veteran who's been in the game longer over a replacement that has done nothing in their career.

Well if we are talking about bringing back veteran qb backups, how about jeff george!...? He played with a bunch of teams and would know their playbooks!...?

so you want to consider bringing in a veteran QB, and the name you mention is Todd Collins? i get the connection, but knowing a coach doesnt mean you can play. and isnt marc bulger still available? i mean hes not exactly the player he once was, but he'd be a more than formidable backup, and an intelligent vet. that could further help with flaccos development.

But, I'm pretty happy with Troy Smith. I mean, if Ozzie felt better bringing one in, i wouldnt question him, but I wouldn't exactly be excited or anything. As far as I'm concerned we're set at QB.

I was looking at the list there and I'd say that Marcus McCauley wouldn't be a bad pick. He may not be the best but another person for depth, espesially with our injury prone corners, is never bad. The same reason we could pick up John Henderson, simply for the reason that d-linemen seem to be able to get hurt easier, and someone with experience is good in my opinion.

Well then it's time for my UNBELIEVEABLY MEANINGLESS argument to begin lol.

Todd Collins seems like a better fit for us than Bulger. Like I said, this is a very insignificant response, but anyway I think Collins would fit us better because he is more of a balance between game manager and gunslinger (imo). The old Bulger was more like pure gunslinger who probably wouldn't fit a balanced offense like ours.

.....Alright I'm done lmao.
