The Saints Giving Back Again

6 posts in this topic

Was working out earlier with NFL Total Access on the TV...

The Saints have decided to auction off a championship ring with all proceeds going to help all the Louisianans hurt by the oil spill. They'll close the auction and announce the winner during the pre-game stuff at the opener against the Vikings.

Very cool.

I read about this online, too. Very, very cool stuff.

I'm almost tempted to throw my name in the hat for the auction and donate. Aside from it being a championship ring for another team, it's still a Super Bowl ring and it's for a good cause.

Raffle tickets start at $2 with a possible minimum of $10 (5 tickets) per person, so that's not too bad. And, of course, you can always donate whatever amount you'd like beyond that. I'm tempted...

This is why I like the Saints. I don't really cheer for them on gameday, but they've shown to be a classy team that you can't help but respect. It's nice to see a team give back to their community, especially one that's been hit so hard the past few years as Louisiana/New Orleans.
