The Ravens landed another restricted free agent for at least another year, as safety Dawan Landry signed his tender on Tuesday.

That leaves only fullback Le’Ron McClain as an unsigned RFA.

Landry said he, like McClain, was looking for a long-term contract, but that prospect seemed unlikely.

“Everybody wants to do a long-term deal, but it probably won’t happen so you have to sign your tender,” said Landry after Tuesday’s organized team activity practice.

Landry still holds out hope that he will get a long-term contract, but he also acknowledged that the uncertain collective bargaining agreement situation makes negotiations difficult.

Originally designated with the second-round tender, Landry would have cost another team a second-round draft pick if it pursued the safety.  The Ravens also would have owned the right to match any offer.

Landry started all 16 games last season, heroically returning from a 2008 campaign cut short by a spinal cord concussion that nearly ended his career.  He totaled 82 tackles and four interceptions in 2009, including one pick returned for a touchdown in Week 10.

“After being out the whole year and coming back, I felt I got better each and every week,” said Landry, a former fifth-round draft pick out of LSU.

I was going to say, LSU? I thought he played in the ACC.

Neither the less, good to see Landry finally signing his tender. Next up, McClain.

he better had signed the tenure. ravens are loaded and landry is def replaceable. zbiro or naka will be the next jim leonhard if not. but i do love dawan physical play. just not the playmaker jim was. far as leron he is a big piece to our offense but again he is replaceable. they are only mini puzzle pieces to our big picture.

Im sure he will get the long term deal as long he has another good season and stays healthy. Im sure the next season will be even better than his 2009 season because he was just coming off an injury, but honestly id take jim leonard over him. We should have kept jim.

first off JIM LEONARD did not want to be here,he wanted to follow REX RYAN,i wish him all the best,he is not a RAVEN now,so stop crying over spilled milk, also LANDRY loss his job because of an injury, not because he was not doing a good job,an injury that threaten his career,so i think he deserves a chance to return to form!!

Ah happy news. I've always adored Dawan. I think he'll get his long-term deal later....he still has some proving to do coming off that neck injury.

Glad to have you back, Dawan! :)

So happy to hear this! Laundry is the most under rated safety in the league. Every game last year he made a big play! :)

GO RAVENS!

Great, he is a really good player, adds a lot to the secondary. Glad we got him done, now we just need McClain to sign and we've got everyone worth bringing back.

Jim leonhard stats: 76 Total Tackles, 1 FF, 1 INT, 0 TD.
Dawan Landry stats: 89 tackles*nfl.com stat*, 1 FF, 4 INT, 1 TD.

Stop wishing for Jim. He was like Zbikowski, solid but not really great.

Awesome, now we just need McClain back. It makes me happy that these players want to get a long term deal done. That's how you become consistent and make the playoffs every year.

I like Landry a lot and I'm glad he resigned. Last season he was good, but at some times when he was defending against the pass, he looked lost. That was probably partially because he was out for a season, and pretty much our whole secondary looked lost in the beginning of the season. It would be nice if he could make the pro bowl so we could have two pro bowl safeties. I agree, he is one of the most underated safeties in the league.
