Gaither Missing From Practice Today

23 posts in this topic

According to the blog on the home page (LINK), Jared Gaither wasn't at practice today and Harbaugh doesn't know why. He practiced yesterday and told Harbaugh that his foot/toe felt good and that the missed practice shouldn't be from an injury.

This isn't a good sign. I'd like to see Gaither actually caring about playing hard for the team...

We'll see what happens.

It wasnt mandatory was it? Granted if I was in his position, Id be trying to show my worth so I can get that big contract I wanted or if I get traded Ill get that contract somewhere else.

Does it matter if it was mandatory anyway? I'd be working my butt off trying to get back on the field if I were him after missing all those practices...

No, but the blog does say "...He was expected to be practicing Tuesday especially after being in Owings Mills Monday."

So the whistle is blown yesterday.

Gaither is a lil too tired to show up today.

I hope they have him run marathons at training camp.

Seeing as no one knows, yet, why Gaither was not at practice, is it really appropriate to assume things and question his character? He could have a very good reason for not attending a voluntary workout.

And, by the way, his injury is/was a real thing, it was confirmed by the team and the doctors in May. A toe injury derailed Jonathan Ogden's career - or was he milking it, too?

Thats a real good point. But all of this is getting real suspicious. It's just one small thing after another.

Yeah and I understand the frustration but Gaither has been a good player for us. People forget he suffered a dangerous neck injury during the season and rehabbed tirelessly to come back; it would have been easy for him to take a nice cozy spot on IR but he came back to play in the most important games of the year. I'm not going to throw him under the bus so quickly.

About time there is a voice of reason in this thread.

When it comes to game time. I know he is going to show up. According to some of his Twitter postings he doesn't want to let this team down.

For real people, you know nothing about what is going on behind the scenes. Just relax and wait until training camp and then you have a real right to complain.....

I just wish he would call. Who knows what shady people are taking advantage of him right now?! Or, he could have been abducted by aliens from planet Rosenhaus!

And the Gaither Saga that was to be postponed until next season, with the signing of his tender, continues!!!

What is up with this guy? Does he think he's so good and irreplaceable that he can dis the coaches and the team without any repercussions?

I know many of you will think I'm jumping to conclusions, but it seems to becoming one thing after another, after another, after another...

You would think that since he hasn't practiced since the first OTA until yesterday, that he would make a point of being there, unless there was a tragedy in his life, which I hope there wasn't.

Great! Landry signed his tender yesterday. Does this mean he's not going to show up to practice today too?

<Just kidding!>

Well, I started this thread not to bash Gaither, just to say what happened. If it was news-worthy enough to have a separate blog entry, I figured it was news-worthy enough for a thread. Even Harbaugh said that he doesn't know why he's not there and it was stated that he was expected to be there.

I don't know this for sure or to be fact but I've read on here about people questioning his work ethic. From what berad posted, maybe not, I just thought I've read before where people have questioned his work ethic and that was one of his biggest downfalls as a player. So with what's been going on the last few weeks, then this, I figured it was worthy to post about since it was apparently worthy enough for a separate blog entry.
