Q&A With Sergio Kindle

17 posts in this topic

Its with some local branch of Foxsports.com it looks like. Pretty interesting to read. He's asked about both his time at Texas and with the Ravens so far.

Good read. It's nothing major but the Q&A is further proof you can never trust height and weight listings. Kindle is listed at 255lbs. in various sites and yet said he said he's 246. Once he adds the muscle all NFL players put on in their first few years in the league, he should have no problem taking on o-line consistently rather than beating them with speed.

At 6'3" he's not going to be a power player at 245lb, hopefully this doesn't become a game time issue. We can't afford to have any linebackers playing finesse and being washed out of run plays.

BloodRaven, how much do you think Suggs weighed when he came into the league? He gained about 10 in the next season and besides last year he was very versatile and had plenty of power and burst.

Suggs was 262lb as a rookie, around 15lb heavier than Kindle at the same height.

Last year Suggs played at 280lb and was great against the run but you can hardly say he had "plenty of burst" being 20lb overweight with a sack total of 4.5.

According to camp, he is being trained to drop back in coverage. I don't think the Raven expect him to put up numbers like 15-16 sacks a season.

read Grasshopper, I said BESIDES last year. Also, an Interview with Suggs earlier this year said that he would like to be around 250 or so, pretty much the same weight he came from college with.

His college bio says ~250, where did your numbers come from?

Well sorry I didn't refresh the page when you edited your post and added "BESIDES". His listed combine and rookie weight was 260-262lb, and he wants to drop down to 260lb per Mike Duffy.

I don't know where you came up with "around 250".

Wow, Fox actually posting something readable? Haha...seriously though, that is a good read. I'm hoping the Ravens don't ever consider moving Kindle from LB to DE...if there are any lingering problems with his knee, one would think keeping him out of the trenches is great preventive maintenance.

No one ever said they would consider moving him to DE. The Ravens play s 3-4. A DE would have to be like a DT who can stuff the run and block. Kindle is a pure pass rusher, not a project player like Kruger. The article made a reference to whether he preferred to be a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB.

Where did we say anything about his college weight?

I assumed the poster meant his weight coming out of college and that's what I found.

His combine statistics have him at 262, like you said. I would trust those more. You're right.

I agree, if Barnes was 255 we wouldnt even need to draft Kindle. At 6'3 Kindle is long and lean, but even 246 seems light for what he looks like. He needs to be at least 250 for the start of the season to have a hope of providing anything that Barnes cant already do.
