Madden 2011 has just released its team rankings.
The Ravens are rated: 90 (Second in the AFC to the Colts: 91, Third in the league Saints: 92)
This means we are the THIRD BEST TEAM in the league.
I am happy that the Ravens are finally getting the credit they deserve.
Any comments?

It's only fair that the superbowl champion and runner up are 1 and 2 respectively.
When do individual ratings come out?

I don't know, but do you think its fair that the Ravens are moved ahead of teams like the vikings, chargers, and jets.

It's all based off of last years results.

If thats true then why aren't the Jets and Chargers ranked ahead of us.

I'm more curious why Baltimore was rated higher than Green Bay. The Vikings I can understand since no one is sure that Favre will return.

I think thats only part of it, I think they also try to forecast what teams will be good with their additions/draft. And Ravens a 90 overall, how will we lose playing online now lol.

Well that's some mildly exciting news :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047
Will be worth buying this game for the roster update (each year it's basically only a roster update, but this time we get a nice bargain out of it). Yay.

Roster update or not, I'm still buying it. Football is football to me. All the other stuff is just a bonus.

On the topic of us being ranked at 3rd; I'm ecstatic about that, and yes, I do believe thats where we are. I think we'd be a clear-cut number 1 if we didn't have the corner problem. Thats the first thing I'm fixing when I play the Franchise mode with them.

Based solely on last years results, I can see the Saints being number one, but I really don't think they are the most talented team in the league. They caught a hot streak and they were playing for something bigger than themselves, I respect that and the motavation that led them to be Super Bowl Champions.

But Colston is inconsistent, Pierre Thomas isnt that good and they lost Bell, Henderson is only really fast and sub-average on most other components, Good defense but still some holes at LB. They are a good team, and some times the best team doesnt always make it the farthest based on luck and the way the games goes.
I mean, if Brett Favre didnt throw that one interception giving the Saints the game, I guarentee soooo many people, including Madden, would think the Vikes are better than the Saints.

And about us being #3, finally someone recognizes us. Still dont understand a couple things, but overall good ratings.

Haha first thing I do when I play Franchise mode is to get Rodgers-Cromatie and another quick young CB.

Already a great game, with the RAvens ranked 3rd best team, its even better! I saw they had Cody like 71 overall, he'll probably end the season better than that. Same thing with Rice last year, he started the year at 78 and ended at like 90.

Cody will be a beast, just trust me. It may not be this year, but its gonna come. As long as he gets SOME conditioning down, he would at the very least be a typical Ravens D-Lineman, in that he'll kill the rushing attacks of other teams. If he improves his hands some, he's gonna be a pocket-pusher and be a force to be reckoned with.

OK it's not exactly the same, but the general idea is the same. Almost all the playoff teams of last year are expected to be back this year.

*ahem*
Vikings: Do they have Favre anymore? Nobody knows, I doubt even Favre does. Without Favre, are they the third best in league? I doubt it.

Cowboys: Tony Romo will ruin whatever chance they have at being in the top 5 once old man winter rolls around in December.

Bengals: One good year and they expect to be in the top 3? Cincinnati has to show that they're consistent first. That's a big challenge for them,

Maybe this years default Ravens offense will be playable. Seems like every year I have to trade for WRs and TE's.

I've never had an issue playing with the Ravens offense. My offense flows perfectly fine with Mason and Heap. Mason, Clayton, and Washington played fine in 10 at wide out for the Ravens.

While the offense was manageable, when other guys pressed my WRs constantly throughout the game I was screwed. Only looks I could do was to Heap and Rice out of the backfield.

NICE... Looks like we finally got accurate ratings! I believe the ratings are a combination of last years results combined with our offseason additions. I think rice and falco were underrated last year so I'm looking for rice to be 96 and flacco an 89-91. Oher should be up as well.

Not true, a team is rated based on a calculation between individual player ratings, that go to separate ratings on each side of the ball offense/defense. Then an average between the offense and defense give the overall. Special teams and coaching I dont think really calculate into the overall as much.

But still, based on new receivers, most likely progress on flacco and rice, and other young talent that are progressing brings our rating up from last year.

Sure a little might go into it from last year, hence the Saints #1 and Colts #2... thats really to start the season cause of last years superbowl and they want to make the superbowl teams now the best team for some reason... but they also countered that by making many updates throughout the regular season when players are progressing and declining. so ratings move up or possibly down.
