World Cup

Deep down in the arteries I want USA to win it all cause of how close they got before.
I will root for South Africa for the most part because Purple Nurple is going for them.

Hargreaves is a prime example of why I can't root for England even as a Brit. There was no way he'd make this year's World Cup but his lack of caps through the years and first-team place because of Gerard and Lampard is complete b.s.

It may be a stretch and my footy knowledge is limited but I thought Hargreaves was Englands best player in 06, him and Joe Cole. Then all the worlds ankle/foot injuries blew England up as usual lol.

Im half British and half American. Saturday will be interesting but since Americans dont give a damn about soccer, Ill just rout for England because I actually watch and know their players...

We have a local saying here in Scotland every time a major international Soccer tournament rolls round:

ABE - Anybody But England!

I'm backing Spain because Scotland aren't in it and I've spent a good amount of time there.

Viva Espana!

I'm a big Denmark fan since 98 (my first world cup) , that team was loaded with talent : Laudrup brothers,Schmeichel,Sand,Helveg. We don't have as many talents now , but there is a strong work ethic and a good mix of veterans and younsters. Also Japan and Cameroon are very beatable.

Brazil is always going to be a favorite specially if Kaka and Rabinho are starting on that team.
I wouldn't call them the clear favorites this year; especially not like they were in '06. Spain has better strikers and the best midfield in the world and their back-four are more than solid.

Rinaldo and Raul have very prestigious striking for sure.

Yeah. I really didn't phrase it too well. Sergio Ramos and Pique are world class and Puyol has been through the wars but they have the occasional lapse.

Uh Shake I'm pretty sure Robinho got left out of the Brazil squad.

Robinho made the team.

That is a stretch. Pretty sure the best player was Peter Crouch!

Ah, I had seen it written but it actually said Ronaldinho. Which is a less nonsensical drop.

Not really. Crouch was pretty pedestrian that tournament.

Do you understand humor?

Also on a more serious note, Beckham was pretty legit that year. Everyone remembers Jordan's flu game and I wont forget beckham's throwing up on the sideline and scoring the game winner game.

Definetly rooting for the US, hopefully they'll make it past group stages and further than that. I'm also pulling for North Korea because if they don't win the players will be put in to "hiding".

Those vuvuzela horns are annoying already and the tournament hasn't started yet...
it sound slike a swarm of bees.

Still trying to figure out why the Mexico goal was called back. Not like I like Mexico, just saying it was an awful call.

Mphela(sp) should have scored.

On another note, South Africa's goalkeeper is incredible. He distrubutes the ball like a mid-fielder.
