Are you a fan of country music? Ive really started to like country more over the past couple months I love it now. My favorite artists are Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley. Some of my favorite songs are The Truth, Big Green Tractor, and Shes Country by Aldean; Thats Love and Then by Paisley, and Chicken Fried by the Zac Brown Band. What do you think about country music and what are your favorite songs/artists?

I had soured quite a bit on country back in the early eighties, when my reasoning was that country has it's place, but it's place was not on every radio station in America, mostly due to so many stations changing to country in order to make some money - and alienating listeners.

However, I have softened a bit on country over the past few years, and am willing to tolerate and accept some of it.

My favorite artists are Willie Nelson, the Dixie Chicks and one you may not have heard of - Stompin' Tom Connors, the "Man of the Land" from Canada.

I listen to 60s-90s country (and 60s-80s classic & soft rock).

Hank Williams Jr, George Strait, Merle Haggard, John Conlee, George Jones, Crystal Gayle, Reba McEntire, and Barbara Mandrell are some my favorites.

I don't care for most country music of the past 10 years because:

1. The drum beat is way too hard and pronounced (loud).
2. The pedal steel guitar and fiddle continue to fade away (and in many songs appear nonexistent).
3. Too many singers singing with an exagerated southern accent/drawl.
4. Many of today's song lack any substance (quality lyrics and arrangement)--too many cookie-cutter songs and songs with stupid content.
5. Many of today's country songs belong on a soft rock or pop station.
6. Many of today's so-called country singers wouldn't know a good, quality country song if it jumped up an bit them in the butt.
7. Just because a song is sung by a country artist doesn't necessarily make it a country song (i.e. Cowboy Cassanova by Carrie Underwood).

Listen to "Murder on Music Row" by George Strait and Alan Jackson and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Call it country, call it blues... whatever you call it... you should definitely check out Grayson Capps. Caught his show at Phoenix Hill in Tennessee earlier in the year, hung out with him before shooting the breeze and for several hours after the show helping the band load their equipment and to help them kill a 12-pack of tall boys. He's got 6 CDs out, not a bad track on any of 'em. Swear it.

I hate most of the crap on country radio but I love me some Hank 3, Justin Townes Earle, some Jamey Johnson and The Old Crow Medicine Show. I'm also a big Johnny Cash fan.

Over the past 5 years I have changed from listening to tool, korn, disturbed, slipknot to almost 100% country.
Favorite artist is Kenny chesney. This will be the first year in 5 we won't get to see him on a summer tour.
I like just about anybody.
Whereas I always found myself short tempered and hyper when listening to 'octane type' music, country leaves me more in touch with my reality.

I think the RAvens theme song should be the hit song by Sara Evens called " Born to fly." They played that "AS if" song in Nashville Ten on a Sunday night game I think it might have been Titans vs Chargers. I can't remember who the titans were playing really.
LOL!

I'm not a country fan at all. The lyrics are typically way too cheesy. I do listen to some alt-country artists like Lucinda Williams and Neko Case. There's more rock than twang. Twang is lame.

Not even remotely close to being in the same class of a quality country songs such as He Stopped Loving Her Today (George Jones) or Rose-Colored Glasses (John Conlee).

Who do you guys think are the best pair country duo in music?
Maybe like:
1) Brooks and Dunn
2) Ed Montgomery and Troy Gentry
3) the Judd sisters

Was never a B&D fan until I saw them in concert. They really are (were) good!
Don't forget Sugarland too!

I wonder what the average age of those that cannot stand country music is? In my twenties I never would have been caught dead listening to that redneck stuff!

Although things change once you have kids and family get-togethers. Sitting around the pool with family/friends listening to Korn, Tool, or Slipknot is not quite too cool anymore. At 39, I have more in common with country artists than any other genre...here in PA. lol

I work at a theme park and there is going to be radio station sponsored country concert.
I'm really excited about this and I will definitely try and make it to that.
