Should We Sign Landry Or Not?

21 posts in this topic

There was some talk about Dawan Landry, so here's the question - Should We Let Him Go or Resign Him?
And If Let Go, What Could We Get For Him?
I say, resign him, and here's why
1) we still have a Big Question about Ed Reed's status. I know, everybody's saying he'll be back, but until we see him anywhere close to the practice field, there still will be questions.
2) If and IF, we have no Reed on the field and IF we have no Landry there either, we would have new starting safeties, very risky situation
3) Considering our "uncertain situation" at corneback position due to injuries, are we ready to put new safeties behind them?
4) Can we get any valuable player in return for Landry?
Possible, but doubtful
Not trying to paint the bleak picture here, but we have to be realistic. This team is very good and creating hole in secondary could demolish any plans we might have this season.

Ed will be back and it all depends on what Landry is asking for contract wise. I wouldn't give him more than 4 or 5 mil a year.

Well I think Laundry is vital our defense. We need some youthful playmakers on the fied. If Ed hangs up his cleats in one or two years and we lose Laundry than we have absolutely no depth at safety and very questionable starters. He probably wont ask for too much and I dont think we can grab a safety like Laundry for a better value.

I say give him 2 year deal / 6.5 mil
1st year he gets 3.0 mil / 2nd year he gets 3.5 mil

You should be his agent.........there's no way he's getting a. a multi-year deal b. anything over 2.5 until he can prove that he can play up to the level he was at before his neck injury

The need for a multi-year, multi-mil deal is no longer a question. Although this may be what Landry wants, the Ravens now hold all the cards.

(1) By not signing his tender on June 1st, the ravens retained exclusive rights. This means he cannot negotiate with any other teams for 2010.

(2) By NFL rules, the Ravens are now required to pay him 120% of his 2009 salary. Should he choose not to accept and the Ravens decide not to give him any other offers, his only leverage is to sit out the 2010 season and get paid nothing. Also, with the possibility of a lock out for 2011 looming, he could end up being out for 2 years.

This would not be smart on his part!

i think we should resign him for sure! i know he was a little outta shape at the beginning of the season but he impressed me more and more the longer the season got on. he was alomost on his level before his injury at the very end of the season. and: he stayed healthy the whole year. in my opinion it´s a no brainer...

Landry started out slow but came up big (like the rest of the defense) in the 2nd half of the season. Him and Ed BOTH had laterals to each other to give the Ravens better field postion after an interception. I think they should bring him back.

We should re sign him if unless the price is overboard. He is a good player, that played pretty well after coming off his injury. I think he will have an even better year this season.

Laundry has always been vital to our defense. Without a solid line of clothing to wash, the D is easily exposed ;)

Unless he has a monster year and commands way too much money, I think we'll keep him. We should keep him, too. He was the best player in our secondary down the stretch last season.

I don't understand this topic? Isn't he already tendered? Its actually up to him if he wants to sign with us, not us, so we obviously already wanted him back.

I think it's really coming down to money, money he wants and money we dont want to give him. Same with Gaither and McClain.

I'm sorry, did you guys miss the part where he played badly last season? let him walk, Zibby or Naka can't be any worse.

Edit: No excuses for playing badly. NONE.

yeah, leading the ravens in picks is playing badly... <_< . i wonder why this guy doesnt think ed reed wasn't any worse? When you have 2 CBs who can't cover like washington and foxworth, the safetys can't sit back and do what they do best.

Seems to be the case. I have faith in Ozzie to get it done at a fair and reasonable price.

Why are we crazy? All people have said is it's up to Landry to sign with us now. I want him back, as do others.
