I was wondering when the draft would be, I just signed up for an ESPN Fantasy Football league and that draft is August 13th at 8:00PM, I have one yahoo league im in already on July 24th at 6:00PM. I don't care when the draft will be, as long as it's convient for everyone involved. I will say I would like to draft closer to the season(like someone brought up week 3 of pre-season) but again it don't matter as long as we can agree on one day and time, and I'll be there.
Once we've got everyone(hopefully that doesn't take too long), we'll vote on it. Drafting close to the season is convenient but drafting early and hoping your players stay healthy through pre-season is nerve-wracking/fun.

I'm in for sure, hopefully I don't get stuck with last pick like my league last year. IDP meaning Independent Defensive Player I take it? Sounds good as long as it doesn't get too complicated, this is all free as well right?

Individual not independent, however the terms are interchangeable... so uh... yeah lol :X

But yes, this will be free. It's all for the fun of it. And the weekends work best for me, draft wise.

How many teams are there going to be? I know you said something about 18 teams but on Yahoo it looks like the max amount of teams is 14 per league, and judging from this we have 12 people already. The reason I say 14 is the max is because every mock I have done only goes up to 14 teams.

I don't what the actual limit is but I know it isn't 14. I've been 16-team leagues the past two seasons.

18 is the number we're shooting for but I could be open to 20 depending on who wants to join.

I'd be up for it if there's still a space going.

Hey ER, I am creating a league just to see the max amount of teams can be in a league and the list starts at a minium of 4 teams and a max of 20. So 20 teams can be in this league if you choose. Just wanted to let you know ER.

Edit: Actually if anyone wants to join in on the league I created send me your email so I can send you an invite, I called it "AFC North Fans Only" and it's a max of 16 teams(2 Divisions so it's 8 teams in a division)with the draft on Saturday July 3rd 5PM EST(I can change the draft date if it don't work for some people) and here are the settings:

- 16 Teams, 2 divisions
- Type of Scoring: H2H
- League scoring begins Week 1
- No Max for trades and player acquistions
- Last Date to Trade is Nov 19th
- Players are on waivers for 2 Days
- Determine Waivor Priority: Reverse Order of Standings(I know that seems odd but if your winning well you obviously don't need to get someone off waivors)
- Weekly Waviors: Sunday-Tuesday
- After Draft: Undrafted Players become Free Agents right away
- Playoff weeks: 15 & 16 with 4 teams making it, the Division winners get the top 2 spots.(This may change, let me know what you think)
- 2 Divisions

I think I may change some settings before the draft but if you want to join message me your email and I'll send an invite your way.

Remind us at the end of the year and maybe we can change the winner's title to "BR.com Yahoo FF Champ". I don't think we could go any longer than that (if that long).

So is it going to be a race to get Mr. Ray Rice? lol
Part of me wants the 4th pick so I can get him but part of me wants a pick somewhere between 7-10 so I can get good value.

NO! Hes mine, lol. No just kidding. I dont really care, I would like to have him, but I was looking at either M. Turner, or even K Moreno also, since I dont think Denvers going to be throwing alot this season.

Could one of you's possibly hook me up with a link to do a mock draft, I have the urge to do one to see how it pans out. Much would be appreciated.

You need to have a Yahoo account to do one. Here's the waiting room.

Great thanks, if we are doing a 20 team league I would love to fall in the 8-10 draft range.

Just had a stab at a 14-team mock. Despite reaching on a QB it was still far too easy, I was picking at 6;

1 - Maurice Jones-Drew (Jags)

2 - Philip Rivers (Bolts)

3 - Anquan Boldin (Us)

4 - Ben Tate (Texans)

5 - Wes Welker (Pats)

6 - Owen Daniels (Texans)

7 - Steve Breaston (Cards) - I'm hoping for 1000 yards 5-7 TDs after Q's departure.

8 - Kenny Britt (Titans) - Did well in his rookie year and should get better

9 - Ricky Williams ('Phins)

10 - Zach Miller (Raiders) - Was a top tight end last year and now has Campbell throwing him the ball.

11 - Lee Evans (Bills)

12 - Willis McGahee (Us)

13 - Brandon LaFell (Panthers)

14 - Robbie Gould (Bears)

15 - Cincy D

18-20 should be far more competitive. In a 14 team league, despite reaching on atleast 2 players, I still managed to put together what looks like a pretty solid team.

Rivers puts up good numbers, I had him last year in my fantasy, and he was one of my top producers. I will be targeting him this year also.

I'm honestly surprised that MJD was available at six, I'd imagine he'd be gone by 5 at latest (I'd take Rice over MJD, but not Turner). Personally, I think Tate, Williams, Evans and LaFell are all risky picks as well. I mentioned Williams earlier, with Marshall in town, and how highly the Phins front office regard Henne (Miami's owner said he thinks Henne can be the great Miami quarterback ever, even better than Marino), who knows how often we'll see the wildcat on the field. Add in the fact that Williams is behind Brown on the depth chart, and an increase in passing could lead to dwindling numbers for Ricky.

The Texans backfield is a mystery, in my opinion. Slaton could hold the top spot if he decides he'd rather hold onto the ball, and there's some decent talent behind him on the chart. I'm not sure how often Tate will get the ball this year, although he could definitely be their back for the future. Lee Evans has absolutely no quarterback to throw him the ball, but he'd only be a back-up for you. As for LaFell, who knows who's starting for Carolina and how they'll produce.

Heres my first of many mocks, lol. Overall I dont think I did half bad. I need to work on my Byes. Alot of my players have alot of the same bye weeks. But this was with me picking at 6th also.

1. Michael Turner (Atl - RB)
2. Peyton Manning (Ind - QB)
3. Anquan Boldin (Bal - WR)
4. Hakeem Nicks (NYG - WR) - has a year under his belt, and was starting to play well towards the end of last season
5. Ben Tate (Hou - RB) - ?s w/ Houstons RB situation
6. Visanthe Shiancoe (Min - TE)
7. Santonio Holmes (NYJ - WR) - I think he will be a good target for Sanchez next season
8. New York (NYG - DEF)

Bench:
9. Cincinnati (Cin - DEF)
10. Brandon Pettigrew (Det - TE) - think he wil be a good target for stafford with a year under his belt
11. Kris Brown (Hou - K)
12. Clinton Portis (Was - RB) - ?s at who will start at RB, I could have also picked willie parker too
13. Alex Smith (SF - QB)
14. Devery Henderson (NO - WR)
15. Early Doucet (Ari - WR) - think he will be a viable target for Arizona with Boldin gone

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Not too bad. Although I think you picked Nicks a bit early, every mock I've been in, he's still been available in the later rounds. Also, I'd never go for Tate, personally, if I could help it. There's just too many variables in Houston's backfield. I do like the Doucet pick as I've picked him a few times as well. Mostly because I expect him (along with Austin Collie) to have a pretty solid year. Alex Smith is a risky pick, he's so inconsistent, who knows what kind of game he'll have when you start him. Only other thing I could say is, I tend to not take defenses or kicks until last (unless I feel comfortable taking a big name defense earlier than usual). That's only if I feel set with the players I already have that I think I can afford to skip a rather solid player for a defense.

Been thinking and it makes zero sense to keep you guys who are already in waiting. I'll create the league at some point tonight and send you all the info to sign up so we can start setting up our custom players rankings and more importantly, talk trash.

There were better QBs that I could have taken when I had picked smith, but I thought he mights have been good this season. That and he was my backup- so it would have been for one game (unless manning got injured then I would be screwed). I tended to fill up my main roster first then get backups. The Ds I picked when I did becasue at the time most of the good Ds were being taken. I could have always gotten a better RB to replace Tate as well. But thanks for the help, now I know somewhat of what to look for and to expect.
