Ew you guys draft Steelers players?
Why not? I know where my true allegiances lie. If a Steeler can help me win my league, so be it.

Owning Maroney is a pain. Just when you think he's about to get a good number of touches, Faulk, Morris and 10 other 30+ RBs get the carrries.

McGahee should make a decent RB3 this season but I'm doubt he hits double digits scores.
I know the pains of Maroney. In my one ESPN league, I had him as a back up. He put up two very solid weeks, so I claimed him off waivers in my second ESPN league. Needless to say, he didn't put up those performances again.

I've invited a number of other peoples so we many end up with a 16+ team league. Hope that's OK with everyone...

As long as there aren't 32 members, I don't mind how many people are in (as long as it's not too large).
Alright, I think I'll cut it off at 18. Maybe 20 depending on who wants to join.

With that many people, every pick is going to count come draft time, because there is no way certain players will be there late in the rounds as if it was a 12-14 people league. I like that challenge.

Exactly. Large leagues separate the men from the boys.

Yeah. I mean not saying that I don't like 12-14 team leagues but it takes too much strategy out of it, like when I was doing the mocks, it was either a 12-14 team league and I noticed that players fell to or near the same round in all the mocks, and going into the draft knowing you can get a starter QB or TE in rounds 4-7 takes the predictablity out of it. Just from the mocks I have done, by the real draft in a 12-14 team league I know I can choose, RB, WR, TE in the first 4 rounds and still be able to take Joe Flacco or Eli Manning in Round 5.

With a big league, it adds more depth to it and more surprise to it. I'll know that I'll have to chooose my players wisely and get smarter about the picks. I can't wait. Is this going to be a private league?

I noticed a few people on here are doing mocks, how do you do them? I was on yahoo sports earlier trying to look for it, but I couldnt find it. Just wanted to practice up on this since the last fantasy league I did was auto draft.

I'm used to 10 teams myself. Never have done anything higher, but I am looking forward to this. I never really understood the concept on not getting an elite fantasy QB earlier in the draft. They do produce the most points, so wouldn't it be very important to get one as fast as you could? Heck, I was thinking about taking two QB's back-to-back in my ESPN 10 team league because we can start one QB and an offensive player. The wonders of FF.

I can't believe the average pick for Ray Rice is 11.6.
Wow, really? In a couple ESPN mocks I've done, he's either taken at 3, 4 or 5. What a steal.

Yes. Once we've got enough people, I'll create the league and send the league ID and password to everyone.

sounds like a sweet challenge??

What is the lineup gonna be?? are we sticking to conventional with this many ppl (QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, DST) any gonna be slimmed down? bench players?
Whats the thoughts on this stuff!
and hows the point system working
alot of this stuff we can just wait for when the league is made but the suspense is killing me

I'll probably have my own side league that'll have defensive players like I did last year. It was an interesting change of pace from the usual.

Anyways, did my last mock draft for today (and probably for good):
1. Chris Johnson
2. Vincent Jackson
3. Roddy White
4. Vernon Davis
5. Joe Flacco
6. Dez Bryant
7. Thomas Jones
8. Carson Palmer
9. Ricky Williams
10. Austin Collie (I figure he's set for a breakout year, hence why I keep picking him)
11. Demaryius Thomas (Ran out of time on this pick)
12. Tim Hightower
13. Jermaine Gresham
14. Adam Vinatieri
15. Chicago D/ST

Pretty rock solid receiving corp, with the exception of Thomas (in my opinion). Took a risk on the running backs. Jones, Williams, and Hightower are all risky choices (is Jones going to see significantly less snaps than Charles? With Marshall in Miami will we see more of the passing game and less of the wildcat? How will Wells and Hightower pan out in Arizona?)

We're probably going to go with the lineup you mentioned.

As for the point system, I like the standard 1 yard = .1 points, touchdowns = 6 points, lost fumbles and interceptions -2.

I wanted to talk about that. I love IDP leagues personally and was wondering if people were cool with ours being one.

For those who don't know, IDP stands for individual defensive players meaning you can draft DeMarcus Ware, Patrick Willis and Ed Reed. It adds a different element to the league and makes it even more fun in my opinion.

If you guys aren't comfortable with it, we don't have to do it.

I'm down for IDP. With IDP and 18 people that should be a monster draft, heh. Whatever everyone else is comfortable with works for me as well.

These mocks are fun, I could do these all day lol. Here is the latest one I did picking from 10th overall:

1. Rashard Mendenhall (Pit - RB) (Internet was being slow it didn't load the draft fast enough so i couldn't get in to make the selection)
2. Roddy White (Atl - WR)
3. Greg Jennings (GB - WR)
4. Hakeem Nicks (NYG - WR)
5. Tony Gonzalez (Atl - TE)
6. New York (NYJ - DEF)
7. Chad Henne (Mia - QB) (Flacco was taken)
8. Thomas Jones (KC - RB)
9. Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ - WR)
10. Todd Heap (Bal - TE)
11. Willis McGahee (Bal - RB)
12. Roy Williams (Dal - WR)
13. LaDainian Tomlinson (NYJ - RB)
14. Alex Smith (SF - QB)
15. Shayne Graham (Bal - K)

Yep.

The beauty of IDP leagues is that you can wait till very late before even thinking of drafting your defensive players. A select few MLBs and DE/OLBs aside, new player rack up 10+ sacks or 100+ tackles every year.

Oh I know, I was surprised that the first time I did a FF league drafting IDP I thought they were treated the same as everyone else, and I got guys like Reed, Kevin Williams and Suggs very late and I was surprised as I thought those guys would have been gone. I'm down with drafting defensive players, but it is going to take a while to complete the draft with close to 18 people and the drafting of defensive players.

Yep. I think we'll go with three IDP slots as well.

We'll see how things shake out but I'm hoping we can do the draft in the afternoon over the weekend.

I was wondering when the draft would be, I just signed up for an ESPN Fantasy Football league and that draft is August 13th at 8:00PM, I have one yahoo league im in already on July 24th at 6:00PM. I don't care when the draft will be, as long as it's convient for everyone involved. I will say I would like to draft closer to the season(like someone brought up week 3 of pre-season) but again it don't matter as long as we can agree on one day and time, and I'll be there.
