Best Crab Shacks

19 posts in this topic

My family has been Baltimoreans for generations dating back a long time. Crabs are in my blood I guess. What is your favorite crab shack in Baltimore? My favorites are Mr Bills on Eastern Blvd, LP steamers in Locus Point, and this roadside crab stand that is situated down the street from my home. Everybody in Baltimore has their favorite crab restaurants, what are yours and any recommendations? I remember when I was in my early teens and before the crabs used to be so meaty and so many places had all you can eat crabs. Finding all you can eat crabs is becoming a real rarity now.

You should probably have a doctor look at that.

I would always get crabs at Blue Point Crab Shack on Reisterstown Rd. My brother used to work there so we would get a bunch on the cheap.

It's off the beaten path for anyone in Baltimore or Newark, but there's a place in Rock Hall, MD called Waterman's Crab House. You can get a table right next to the water where the crabbers pull their catch up to the dock - you watch your crabs go into the kitchen and 15 min later you watch those same crabs come out to your table. Mid-summer there is good fun. If you find yourself on the northern eastern shore, not far from Rock Hall, it's worth a detour.

Oh yeah, you can dock there too - and they'll take you out on boat tours if you don't arrive in your own boat.

Thanks Z. They may be too far for me but I'll look into it when the time comes.

Seaside in Glen burnie is awesome. But nothing is better than pulling them out of the Kent island waters yourself and cooking them an hour later!

Seaside ain't bad at all, just a bit pricey compared to most for the quality that you get. I do a lot of crabbing in the Chester River ( SouthEast Creek), I love steaming them fresh from the dock.

Warden,
If you are near Newark, DE just come a few minutes down I95 to North East,MD. We have a place called Woody's that is excellent. Also, there is a place called the Nauti Goose, excellent as well.

Just 5 minutes away from North East is a smaller town called Charlestown. There is a pretty classy place called The Wellwood Club, great place to take the lady. If you are just looking for all you can eat crabs, chicken and corn,The River Shack is right next door.

there's a salty dog steelers bar here in Ocean city. Me and some friends went there for the Ravens steelers sunday night game last season. I was the prettiest there.
