61% Of The Nation Say No To Bart Scott

21 posts in this topic

I know the debate over who is better the Ravens or the Jets D is a hot topic in Ravens Talk. I just thought I would show the percentages of what the nation thought about Bart Scotts comments on being the best D ever. IMO the 2000 Ravens and the 85 Bears are at the top of the list. I dont see how, with the talent the Jets have, of being better than either of those two defenses. Apparently the national opinion is the same as mine. Check it out for yourself My link

Barts bark is bigger than his bite!

Percentages may change as the number of votes rises. The map is actually pretty cool. You can move your mouse over each state and see what they are thinking individually. Of course NY is the only state which thinks they have a chance.

Maybe Cormarties kids should get together and start a football team.

But they'd have too much. They should start a league or two.

I'm not all that upset Ryan took Scott with him. Between the two of them, all that hot air should make New Jersey unsufferable this summer.

Shut up and play football.

IMO its us and the Steelers of the 70s best defenses ever. The '85 Bears relied on a brand new scheme to beat opponents, the 2000 Ravens did nothing but beat a** doing the same coverages the entire league was doing and basically the same coverages from the 70s. 70s Steelers had some new and innovative stuff but it wasnt stuff that gave such a distinct advantage like the 4-6 Bear scheme did, and the 4-6 Bear is easily destroyed by a West Coast offense ala the Dolphins in 85. 85 Bears was a great defense dont get me wrong, my point is it was great because the scheme gave such an advantage.

This situation is kind of overblown. Scott never said the Jets would be the best defense ever, just that they would try. That's essentially what every NFL does (or should do) in the offseason and during practice. If you're not preparing to be the best, then why even bother.
"You try to be the No. 1 defense -- ever,"
Now, I can't condone anything else that comes out of Scott's mouth. We all know he talked trash here, then banked on Ray Lewis to back it up. I still remember Scott, every time he tried to tackle Chris Johnson in that '08 playoff game, eating the turf instead. Now, he goes to New Jersey and talks even more.

I live in NY, and I can assure you, the other 39% are Jets bandwagon fans.

The article was meant to confuse Jets fans. "2000 Ravens D"? They've never heard of the Ravens. They think Rex was born last year, Bart Scott just magically appeared a few months ago, and they still don't know who Jim Leonard is. Wait until they get a taste of a REAL defense.

61% of Ravens fans say no to talking about the Jets.

It's all fun and games until they fall flat on their face next year. They caught a lot of teams by surprise early in the season but once teams figured out their game plan they started losing. They'll more than likely go 8-8 or 9-7 next year. The Jets are also a "contract loaded" team, meaning they won't keep able to float all the pro-bowl caliber players they currently have. I forget the exact number but something like 10-13 of their starters are entering their contract year.

They're throwing money around signing everyone they can in hopes of making a Superbowl run this year. If they end the season and don't have a 7 lb sterling silver trophy over their heads... well, it's going to be a very long time until they see the big stage again.

The Jets are a flash in a pan. They'll explode, be amazing, capture your interest... then fizzle out and fall back to mediocrity. The Ravens have slowly built a team that is young and is going to be a dominate force for the next decade, if not more.

I was watching NFL Network's Top 10 last night and they were doing all-time defenses and the 2000 Ravens got 7th!!!! They said it was because we had the audacity to play the teams on our schedule and QBs like Akili Smith, Doug Pederson, Ryan Leaf, etc. So, even though that team holds the record for fewest points and rushing yards allowed in a 16-game season, we were 7th.... <_<

I love Bart, his fire and personality made him one of my favorite Ravens. Always thought he was over rated by some of us.
I remember the thread we had going on during the bidding war for Scott. Was probably the longest thread ever on this forum.

Bart has a big mouth, but you cant fault him for the things he says. He has been outspoken, but when has he ever been flat out wrong?

I remember that from last year. They had teams like the Chiefs and Falcons ahead of Baltimore, if I'm thinking of the right show: http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/12149-nfl-networks-top-ten-defenses/page__hl__how%20many%20superbowls%20did%20the%20chiefs%20win__fromsearch__1.

I just dont think the Jets are worth hating on let alone talking about. Our concerns should be Cincy, Pittsburgh and the Colts come playoffs.

Yes, Yes, Yes! How sweet would it be to go 6-0 in the division and give the Colts a good butt kicking. It will be a great year for us.
