Ed? To the Ravens credit, they have always been good at lead blocking when they get a turnover.
lol thats what happens when you go 14 years without being able to score any damn points. We've also had some prime defensive players careers cut short because of all the time spent on the field.

Edit- Watching those old highlights of Reed and Lewis in their primes makes me borderline sad, at least meloncholey about how they cant do what they used to anymore.

I was just told by james walker, in todays afc north chat, that he feels that polamalu is the best player in the afc north. i agree that he is more valuable to his team then anyone else (even the offense n ST went to crap when he was out) but i still feel that both reed n lewis are better players. maybe im just biased. thoughts?
i like the angle you took... and its what i noticed right away.

i think he might be the most valuable player, bc the steelers were a much different team without him. to go from super bowl champions to not making the playoffs bc one player is injured (i understand they lost other players besides him from the super bowl team, but they started 2009 looking like they hadnt lost a step without the others) says alot about his worth to that team.

however i think that there is a better player, its just that his team is more well-rounded that without him they can continue to do well. agree/disagree if youd like but ray rice is the best player (or at least will be when all is said and done) in the AFC north.

not only was he one of the top RB in the NFL, he led the ravens in receptions and was one of the leaders of the NFL in all-purpose yards too. with teams scheming to shut him down he was still one of the most explosive players in the league with the ability to score from any where at any time.

ray rice had shown that he can create for himself, by exploiting holes that arent there and breaking sure tackles with incredible balance and center of gravity. i feel troy wouldnt be as effective without a great pass rush which allows him to gamble and jump balls using his instincts. without that security blanket, he gets burned on too many plays.

reed and lewis get honorable mentions, and a couple years ago both were better, but troy still has some youth on his side. rice is way younger and has yet to even come close to his peak. what my decision comes down to is that ray rice would be effective in any offense and can be dangerous running or catching. troy is dependent upon a pass rush to produce the way he does, without it he is one dimensional in his greatness in that he is phenominal at stopping the run, but his pass defense would suffer greatly in that he jumps plays too much

If people wanna say it's Troy thats fine by me cuz it means NOTHING on the field. All I know is I rather cheer on a safety who is a 6 time pro bowler and DPOY in Ed Reed.

The INT's no; and those led to the TD's. But Ed is also put in the position to get picks 100% of the time whereas Troy is not.

What TD's Troy did have he broke nearly 11 tackle for. Ed? To the Ravens credit, they have always been good at lead blocking when they get a turnover.

The rest of the stats are VERY comparable considering the extra year in the league.

"Couple extra sacks" shows me how bias you actually are when you had to point out a whole 2 forced fumbles.

I'm sure the rest of the league is terrified.
Thanks for giving the Ravens credit, I'm sure they're ecstatic.

The "rest of the stats?" Last I checked, interceptions was a pretty important stat. Ed Reed is a playmaker with the ball in his hands. He has great vision, which is why he can gain so many yards off of the interceptions. And yes, he has more TDs because of that.

A couple is the same as two. Would it be more satisfactory if I said a couple more forced fumbles for Reed and a couple more sacks for Polamalu? Of course, a forced fumble is better than a sack...

I disagree, but he is an excellent player. The Steelers start to lose when he doesn't play, pure and simple.

I still think Ray Lewis is the best player in the division. He may be old and slowing up, but he's still a champion.

Why would he put a spin move on us? He's never had the ball in his hands in a Steelers game Dave.

"Crazy jukes" can be found at 1:04 and 1:31.
He put some sweet moves on the Bengals, but as I said, if he doesn't get a clear lane, he doesn't score.

Looks like the Bengals are the big victims between these two. Troy avoids the entire team at about 1:32:
Really? And you're a FB fan? There is no question in my mind that if all Troy had to do was sit back in coverage, he would get the opportunity able to do it. What was the impressive part? The 100+ yard run? He is an athlete you know. I'd say the most impressive part was not letting Westbrook push him out of bounds.

Man, I knew people would blow a gasket when this came out. People, chill out. James Walker didn't label Polamalu as the best safety of the last decade (which I can say without hesitation is Ed Reed), he said that he is the best player in the AFC North as of right now. As of right now, he's probably right. If Ed can prove that he is over the nagging neck injury, then he can make a case as being the best current player in the AFC North. If Ray Rice does what he did last year (or better), then I think he makes a very strong case for the best player in the division. Until that happens, Polamalu is probably the best player in the AFC North at this time.

I'll say it again. A player coming back from a season where he missed 10+ games shouldn't be considered the best player in a division. obviously a signifcant injury occured to miss that many games and precautionary bells should sound when saying that the person in question is the best in any given position. He may very well be back to 100 percent but you are NEVER as good as you once were or could have been; without the knee injury. Remember that.

Come on man. He definitely didn't have a clear lane on his 107-yard TD against the Eagles and or the TD against the Dolphins in the play-offs. The same can be said for numerous TDs he's had in his career.

You make an excellent point. I thought his injury was a shoulder injury. Did he also pick up a knee injury later in the season?

The guy who missed most of the last season is probably the one who needs to prove he can come back from from an injury.

I can't remember. Did he hurt his knee in addition to his shoulder injury from Week 1? If that's the case, then I would say that Best Player in the Division is up for grabs this year.
