Wish List: Who Would You Bring Into The Flock?

89 posts in this topic

Let's say you're the new GM of the Ravens...

You have a shot to bring in one player, any player you want, to the Ravens team. Money, current contract, salary caps, Final 8 rules... ect. do not affect this decision. The only rules to your choices are that the player must currently play in the NFL and is not already a Raven.

Who do you think plays like a Raven?? Who is the one player you think would gaurentee us a Super Bowl victory this year? (even though it's gonna happen regardless haha).

MAKE YOUR PICK! and please explain why so discussion can develop, do not just list a name

2 players come to mind. Asomugha for obvious reasons, in my opinion, the best CB out there and i would love to see him in purple n black. the other is fitzgerald, pretty much the same reason asomugha plus reuniting him with boldin would be awesome... of course neither is gonna happen but that my 2 cents

i know some may get mad at me for this but i would take troy p. from the steelers or drew brees if i couldnt get troy only because i think flacco would benefit from having a vet like him around. really you shouldnt need any reasons for my choices but lets be honest with troy an reed roaming the backfield its a wrap.

Larry Fitzgerald! He's young so he can grow with Flacco and is all around the best WR in the league. Plus with him, Boldin, Mason, and Stallworth that's just an unstoppable passing attack :P We'd win every game unlike the Cardinals who had a great WR core strictly because we have a great defense.

I'm going to blindside everyone and say...Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The guy has only just turned 24 and has some insane man coverage skills. He has great ball skills for the position and at 6'2" with the athleticism he has it is difficult to pick on him with jump balls. He plays with immense amounts grit and determination that would see him excel in our system. Factor in a pressure-cooker front seven and he could put up Charles Woodson-like numbers year in, year out, over the next 8-10 years.

Franchise Shut-down corner, thy name is Rodgers-Cromartie.

Taking into consideration this is all for fun, and no one player added to a roster would gaurantee a super bowl victory, I will go ahead and humor you with my choice.

I would choose Elvis Dumervil. He is only 26 and going into his fifth season. The kid is a beast. Had 17 sacks last year alone and has already put up 43 for his career. If he had the front defensive line like we do he would be unstoppable. His tackling totals would definately go way up from what he has been getting. He also had 4 forced fumbles. Elvis on one side and Suggs on the other. POW!

Interesting choice. Jeff Saturday. Birk probably won't be around much longer and C isn't exactly a healthy position for us right now. Depth along the O line is key, and for a guy like Saturday who probably has two or three good years left would make things a lot easier for the line and for our O to function. (funny thing is he's a former Raven, but was cut very early)

#2: Revis. Best shutdown CB the league has to offer with Namdi a close second. Think about Reed and Revis in the same secondary... Not to mention, it would help fill a need.

I was going to say a pass-rusher, as well. For me, it's either him or Demarcus Ware. I might be inclined to side with Ware because, even though he's a year older than Dumervil, he's been more consistently dominant throughout his career.

Cant argue much with that. It was tough to choose between the two of them but hey, its good either way.

So the one hole that sticks out to me is the Defensive Secondary. You could argue that we need a Safety so we'd be elite back there, but Dawan Landry, Hakuri Nakamura, and also Tom Zbikowski are good, young safties that play their hearts out. We need a Shut-down corner. Think about it... the only 'weakness' on our team is not having a number 1 corner. My choice: Darrelle Revis. Plays like a Raven, coached by a former Raven coach. This immediately makes our team 19-0.

I was going to say Nnamdi, but since he only has a couple prime years left, I'd rather go a different route. He would make this defense unstoppable the next couple years though..
I would strongly consider Polamalu, because the thought of him and Reed in the secondary is mind boggling. But again, age plays a big factor, and I would pass.
No thanks to Manning, Brees or Brady. Flacco will be a great player in his own right.

I would take Megatron, without hesitation. He is just about to hit his prime, and talent wise, he is already the most dominant reciever in the game. Forget Fitz, forget Wayne, forget AJ...Megatron is where it's at.
With him and Boldin on the field, besides the obvious fact that one of them will almost always be single covered, it would allow us to run max protect schemes an awful lot.
Imagine a two TE set with Megatron and Boldin on the outside, Heap and Pitta at TE (one of whom would stay back and block), and Rice in the backfield. We'd be headed to the SB even if we had Cleveland's defense.

Jared Allen. A sack machine of a defensive end. With the size and talent we have at Defensive Tackle, I think a switch back to a 4-3 base would be beneficial if only we had a legit pass rushing defensive end on the right side.

Nnamdi Asomugha. Yes he's 4 years older then Revis, but I like the fact that he's got more experience and he's a lot taller.

Darelle Revis..smart, instinctive, competitor, knows the naunces of playing in a complex defense, and most of all may be the best defensive player in the NFL who can shutdown any WR

Andre Johnson or Calvin Johnson on the offense.

Defensively, I would add Dumervil or Aquib Talib.

I have a soft spot for Patrick Willis, even though there's no immediate need for him (yet)...

My runner-up choice is Larry Fitzgerald; classy guy, has all the attributes you want in a #1 WR without the (visible) ego to match.

my pick is kind of silly.. but i take jahri evans. hes young and the best gaurd in the game. with him we have the best offensive line in history with him, oher, and gaither.... for the next 10 years. our D is already dominant and with that O-line flacco would have all day to throw and we could run all over everyone.

Not only that, I went to college with Evans and partied with him quite a bit... cool dude.

Nice call on Willis, he slipped my mind the minute I started envisioning Flacco-Megatron bombs.
I'd still take Megatron over anyone else, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Willis donned the purple.
