Stacked At WR? Think Again...

34 posts in this topic

i feel what your saying ed thats why im hoping that he has more focus but he has proved that he can get seperation an be a target. really i been following him an hoping for a break out season but at this point if he doesnt want it for him self then hes done.

I understand what your saying lowrider but everyones making it seem like boldin is soft. the man plays at 150% every game like mason so i cant see him getting hurt an being sidelined for ever. I would worry more about stallworth 1st but really i think he will be wonders as a #3 because of that blazing speed an great hands. back to the point tho i understand what your saying as far as if they go down who can look to for production an although clayton didnt put up monster numbers he was a great blocker for both pass an run support so he still has value an whoever else wins a spot should be able to help. Dont forget that we also have rookie TEs that can play WR as well so i dont think its as bad as we are making it.

Remember ravens fans we dont care about the media we know and love are team. stay tru an at the end of the season we will be a great team yet another year and you can ink that now.

This is just something I've been noticing lately. People have been saying that we are "stacked" at the WR position. We certainly have a lot of players at that position, but not exactly quality players at the position.

After our first 3 WRs in Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin, and Donte Stallworth, we have a lot of question marks. Clayton and Williams might be on their way out (though they didn't make an impact here to begin with) and our other WRs have either not seen time on the NFL field, or still out to prove themselves as quality pass catchers.

I wouldn't say that we have are "stacked" at the position, but just a lot of players at the position. Throw out Clayton and Williams, and our quality at the position behind our 3 starters have big question marks.

No team in the NFL is stacked at WR.

Randy Moss goes down, who steps up? Welker will get the targets but they have no one after him.

Andre Johnson goes down, Walter and Jones gonna get it done? I dont believe so.

I love the Packer Recievers, and I would say they are the closest to being stacked but a whole season without Jennings would put a lot of pressure on an aging Donald Driver.

Matt Leinart couldnt get it done in Arizona with Fitz and Boldin. Now he only has Fitz. How well do you think he will do?

My point being players will go down. Its a part of the game. But our top 3 guys have a lot of experience. And a guy like David Reed is learning under these guys. Harper and Riley are learning under these guys.

Keep in mind we have 3 great TEs (I know Pitta and Dickson havent played yet but I love the potential) and 3 Pro bowl Running backs. We aren't going to become the patriots and have 3 WR sets every snap. Boldin and Mase will be doing most of the work from the WR corps and they are pretty darn tough. I think our offense is fine and we dont need to bring anyone else in. Boldin and Mase are good teachers, we will do just fine with our depth.

There are only few teams in NFL with relatively better WR's depth chart than Ravens, let's take a look:
AFC
A tier Colts & Chargers

B tier Patriots, RAVENS, Bengals, Texans

C tier Jets, Dolphins, Steelers, Broncos

D tier Chiefs, Browns, Titans, Jaguars

F tier Raiders, Bills

NFC
A tier Saints & Vikings

B tier Cowboys, Packers, Giants, Falcons

C tier Cardinals, Redskins, Seahawks, Eagles

D tier 49ers, Panthers, Lions, Bears

F tier Rams, Bucs

I would be surprised if Ravens make it in top 5, but I would expect them to be in top 10 passing yards this season.

Not sure about that dude. Colts have the most overrated receivers in the league because Wayne is a beast but Garcon and Collie wouldnt be half as good with any other QB. I'd take our wide receivers over theirs any day.

Same goes with the Saints, Colston is too inconsistent and Henderson is just fast but besides that blows. Packers should be before the Saints and definitely in the A teir.
