Webb At Nickle

12 posts in this topic

Im confuse. Why dose everyone want L.Webb to start as soon as he gets back healthy. dont yall think it will be a better idea to playing him at nickle for awhile before he starts for us so he can get the game speed back again. this would not only help him get his game time speed back but still give him confideces to play cause if we put him on the boundry to early and he gets burned a couple of times in the year then he may not be as good as he was in his rookie season and wont be the same player we drafted. all im saying is we should be talking about not starting him but instead once he comes back he should be playing alot of nickle.

It all depends on who else steps up. We know Foxworth is the starting #1 corner now who is the #2. Is it Carr? He is better suited to play the nickel and he won't return punts/kicks this season (thank god). So if one of the darkhorses like Cary Williams or KJ Gerard steps up than yes you can ease Webb back in and play him at nickel. But if Webb is 100% you have to start him where he feels most comfortable.

Start of the season - Foxworth, Williams, Carr, Fisher, * Washington MIGHT be ready

Webb should start because his play last year showed he is capable of handling a starting job.
Which is more than we can say for the other contenders for the #2 spot.
It really is that simple, I think you are overthinking the situation..

The coaches, trainers, doctors and Webb will contribute to the decision of where, when and how much Lardarius plays. If the coaches think he'll work out better at nickle, he'll play there.

Webb has 3 and 1/2 months to get up to speed. Do you have any video to show an instance of Webb being burnt last season. I can't really recall a time Webb wasn't stride for stride against responsibility.

Information will update just about every day between now and the first regular season game. What I'm getting at is the fact that the experts will make almost daily determinations (and likely down to the hour as the season gets rolling) as to who is ready to play where. It'll be a team assessment and I have faith they'll make the right decision(s).

Don't worry - they'll put him in the right spot at the right time considering the available information at the moment of decision.

I agree that it will be the trainers, coaches and Webb making the decision when to come back, as it should be. His speed, cutting & flipping needs to be at 100% first and foremost. He will also need to be beyond the tentative thinking of re-injury which is only natural. When he is there he should start without question. Playing in the nickle and dime packages is not a bad idea until he gets his wheels under him and his confidence in his knee back if he's close but not quite at 100%.
