guys I think I screwed up big time and may need a new PS3. Such good timing with Madden 11 coming out soon....(sarcasm)

Ok my PS3 was acting up and so I went and tried to restore it back to it's default settings and I did that, but now I can't get past some menu thing that tells me to connect the controller to my ps3 using the usb cable and press the PS Button. I did that nothing, it won't leave the screen at all. What did I do when I restored the system back to it's default settings. I really hope I don't have to get a new PS3 but it sure seems like I may have to. Can someone help?

If you have another controller, try plugging it in; if that doesn't work, then it's probably the system and not the controller that's the problem.

Try restoring to default settings via Safe Mode. To access Safe Mode, turn the system off and then hold down the power button for 15 seconds until it turns off (it should beep once to turn on, once for video reset, then a third time for the shut down), then turn on again and hold down the power button for another 15 seconds until it double-beeps -- that double-beep will bring up that same controller-connect screen. If you still can't connect, then you'll probably need to send your system in for repair ($119 for fat PS3s, probably $150 for PS3 Slims) or buy a new one.

Easily a PS3 person here. Always buys Sony products and Sony has shown that in the long run, their products are a safe investment.

Add me Ravens fans!

See I tried that, but it didn't work. The system works fine but I think it might just be the controller. I only have 1 controller and that was the one that came with it, never used any other controller or never needed it. My friend and I always took turn in Madden or any other game so I didn't need to get another one. I mean maybe the wireless sensor is broken in the controller or something, than again even with the USB plugged in to the system and connected to the controller it still won't sense it so I'm wondering if it's the system and not just the controller. Plus the controller is falling apart, it started to come apart at the ends and I taped them back and now tonight it is starting to fall apart again so I'm just wondering if it may be the controller. I have had my PS3 since Christmas of 2007, so I'm going on 3 years with it; not sure if that helps but I figure I would tell you how long I have had it.

I'm worried that if I buy a new controller, than I wasted money on a controller when it was the system, and if I buy a new PS3 than I wasted money on a new one when the whole time it was the console. Now to stay on topic, regardless I plan on staying with Sony and buying PS products, in fact I say PS3 is better than Xbox 360.
