PS3 Vs Xbox 360 - Which System Is Better?

93 posts in this topic

I've got both and I despise my Xbox.

The HDDVD drive is worthless.

Xbox live is no better than PSN and Microsoft has the cheek to charge for it.

My Xbox has broken down 3 times despite sparce use. (Red ring twice, then DVD drive)

Controllers are pointlessly large and clunky.

Honestly, I haven't bothered with the hunk of junk since I bought a PS3 18 months ago because it's just useless. There are one or two Xbox only titles that are tempting but, all in all, the Xbox is pointless.

of course the hddvd drive is worthless, hddvd is obsolete. Who buys that? The ps3 has blu ray, but its cheaper it grab a player for your PC for 60 like I did.
and the xbox 360 can fail at any time, even if you dont use it much like you said. Microsoft was forced to use a non lead based solder, which in turn is not nearly as strong as a copper, tin based solder. The cpu and gpu on the board eventually come loose from heat and lose contact with the sockets. The ps3 suffers from this too, yellow light of death, but not nearly as much. the solder issue has been more or less been fixed in the new Jasper motherboards. The xbox 360 allows you to install the entire game to the hdd, so your dvd drive never has to spin, prolonging the life of the dvd drive. The xbox 360 sells more copies of all cross platform games, it cant be that worthless. even the ps3 exclusives arnt selling well.

I meant 360 is better if you don't care about or already have Blu-Ray. I think its so close that that would be the deciding factor. And although console exclusivity is not as prevalent these days, it still does exist.

And I have always despised playstation controllers, that is a huge part of it. The triggers and placement of the joysticks just arent right for many games.

I think the dual shock controllers are perfect. Never had an issue with them on any game.

I have the same problem with my new PS3, going back to the dual shock is a shock in itself, it doesn't have the same solid feel. The menu takes it's sweet time a bit too much, other than that I love it.

My only gripe is I've been thru about 8-9 NEW (11 total) PS3 controllers in the nearly 4 years I've owned the system. thta's unacceptable. They always crack in the same spot on the right axis stick, lower portion.

WOW! I'm going to guess ou have thrown your controller at the TV or wall lol jk. You are right, my controller is about to crack and I have had it for about 4 years as well but I'm still on the default controller that came with the system.

I am a PS guy, I have owned, PS1, PS2, and currently a PS3. I have only played the Xbox once and even though it was ok, I am sticking with a PS3. I will say I am impressed with the new Slim Xbox they debuted at E3 today, I'm trying to get rid of the big PS3, and trade it in for the slimmer one.

I know exactly why you keep breaking your controllers and frankly, I'm sick and tired of it. If you would stop slamming that hit stick every time I touch the ball and putting my players out of the game maybe you would not keep breaking the controllers. Anyone know a counter for that Damn hit stick? The next time we play, if I do not have a open running lane I'm just going to dive on the ground.

For people who are really good at using the hit stick a good way to counter it is to do jukes with the left analog stick when you are NOT sprinting, otherwise they are not as agile and are just going to straightline speed.

H8R you must be really hard on your controllers man, I have 5 including the one that came with my original PS3, I only have 1 thing wrong with any of them and it's because I dropped it and the R2 is somewhat pushed in.

The only reason I've been through two Dual Shock 3 controllers is due to my TV not having a back and inadvertently knocking my controllers off the stand (and straight onto a concrete floor with only a thin layer of carpet over it).

I hope nobody is going to buy the new mini 360. Wireless and HD is cute but unless is is RROD free theres no point.

I've actually had both systems. I just recently bought within the last couple months the PS3 and I really like it! I think the PS3 is better, maybe not graphically but as far as the games themselves seems like they have more of a selection. :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

PS3 is the better choice because it has more potential. Once game developers are fully able to code the games to utilize the PS3's processing power and graphics, say bye bye to the 360.

If you want an example on how awesome games can look on the PS3, check out Gran Turismo 5. That game blew my mind.

Wouldn't be surprised to find out if he's thinking about GT5 Prologue. I did the same thing when prologue was released and went out rushed and bought the game cause I thought it was GT5 haha.

The best visual looking game I have ever played would probably be Metal Gear Solid 4.

I personally have a 360, and have hardly had any prblems with them. The very first 360 I have had was the first version, had it for 3-4 yrs, and then my video port went up, so just went out and bought an arcade a few months ago and slapped my Hard drive onto it and havent had problems. I guess I have beene the lucky ones to have hardly had any problems.

Personally, I dont see all the hype with the Ps3. My cousin has one and I've played on it, and I just dont see it. Sure there is free online, but at E3 they were talking about making a payment plan for online now, so Ps3 online might not be free much longer. The grapics arent all that much more amazing than a 360s imo. As for little kids yelling in the mikes, you can just individually mute them. I think there is alot more game variety on the 360 than Ps3. Ps3 may win in quallity. But after playing my cousins PS3 and my 360, I have to go with the 360. As for online play I think the 3has a better value also, theres just so much more you can do online on the 360 than a PS3 imo.

guys I think I screwed up big time and may need a new PS3. Such good timing with Madden 11 coming out soon....(sarcasm)

Ok my PS3 was acting up and so I went and tried to restore it back to it's default settings and I did that, but now I can't get past some menu thing that tells me to connect the controller to my ps3 using the usb cable and press the PS Button. I did that nothing, it won't leave the screen at all. What did I do when I restored the system back to it's default settings. I really hope I don't have to get a new PS3 but it sure seems like I may have to. Can someone help?
