My old classic PS1 still works to this day. Same with my fat PS2.

Meanwhile, all of my friends who have a 360, have had to send theirs in for a repair. All of them. Hmmm...

lies all lies lol there is nothing wrong with 360's. I have put mine through absolute hell.I'm I'm interested as to what everyone else does to theirs that causes the rrod

well i have personally gone thru 3 of them but thats because the amount of time i had put them thru. My sons and girl friends xbox have never needed to be replaced. to be fair tho i use to put in 6 to 8 hrs a day which was why mine over heated. i think the 360s get a bum rap for the stuff that happened early on because of them rushing out the product. By no means are the ps3 like the ps2 tho because i know a bunch of people who have had to send in their ps3s just like the xbox it matters the amount of time you play them. i will say ps3 runs quieter tho.

My PS1 was replaced 3 times (meaning I had 4 total). Thank goodness for XboX. We still have our original and 2 360s (all working).

Overall 360 is better. THe online is better and worth like $35 a year. PS3 is going to start charging anyway. 360 has many more games on it also. And games that are on both platforms, the graphics are always better on 360. But where the PS3 is different is where it gets a little better. There are so many great PS3 only games like God of War 3, Gran Turismo, and MEtal Gear Solid. And pPS3 has Blu-Ray. If you already have a Blu-Ray player I would get the PS3. But if you don't, and you have an HDTV and would like Blu-Ray, and PS3 only games, then I would get the PS3.

Console exclusivity is a moot point these days since it's not economically viable anymore for developers and publishers to remain loyal to one console; that's why you're seeing one-time Sony exclusives Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid going multi-platform, as well as former Microsoft exclusives Saints Row and Dead Rising. And there's been rumblings for years that Halo may eventually go multi-platform ever since Bungie split from Microsoft and became independently-owned.

As for PS3's proposed subscription-based online service, it's still important to note that the subscription only covers PREMIUM features such as early access to demos, the first hour of full gameplay from upcoming retail titles, "free" premium DLC (as opposed to paying for it without a subscription -- this will be allegedly separate from widely-spread free DLC that everyone gets), new cross-game features, and similar community features to Xbox Live.

Online gaming will still, however, be free on the PlayStation Network -- that is the one feature that Sony is adamant about remaining untouched so as to separate themselves from the competition.

I've been hearing about PS3 users having to "pay soon" for online but I've been hearing that for the past year and a half. I also disagree about the better graphics on 360, IMO the PS3 looks more realistic compared to the more cartoonie look on 360. The only thing that 360 has an edge in would be loading times.

The pay model that you're hearing about is actually just a subscription service only for premium features -- regular online multiplayer and access to the PlayStation Store, as well as software updates to games, will still be free.

As for the grading criteria you put up, here's how I'd score it:

Games -- Tied (console exclusivity depends on your taste, and there's very few console exclusive titles these days)
Graphics -- 360
Load Time -- Tied
Noise -- PS3
Online -- 360
Versatility - PS3

The only reason why graphics are slightly better on the 360 is because it's easier to develop for the 360, so some developers opt to develop their cross-platform titles on the 360 first before porting over to PS3. However, the developers that have taken the time to learn the PS3 architecture have reaped the most benefits, as their titles see a more seamless transition when porting down to the 360 instead. Additionally, the PS3 has more processing power and, therefore, also has the potential to produce more impressive graphics in the future once developers begin to push the limits of both consoles.

Not necessarily; though, in the long run, it would behoove developers to work on the PS3 first, many studios simply do not have the time or money to learn the architecture and ensure a smooth port between systems, so they'll work on the more developer-friendly 360 first because of said time and financial constraints. This is especially the case with yearly updates and movie-licensed games.

As for the online comparison, though the 360's subscription price vs. the PS3's free cost depends on what you're willing to pay, I find that more gamers think the subscription is worth it simply because Microsoft's online user interface and community features are more fleshed out than Sony's. However, once Sony rolls out its subscription model, that's where the PS3 could have the edge, as free online multiplayer on top of the optional premium service could be a better value than Microsoft's premium-only multiplayer.

Though Xbox Live subscribers would argue that their online connections are better than the PlayStation Network, I've found that my friends who have both consoles have the same connectivity on both systems; it really depends, on the most part, on connection speed and your ISP. Granted, Sony and Microsoft also have a hand in how well you connect as it is invariably their servers that you're connecting to, but no matter the service or product, online connectivity will always be something that varies from person-to-person.
