Webb And Fabian Ahead Of Schedule

28 posts in this topic

According to Aaron Wilson:

Harbaugh said that Lardarius Webb (ACL) is ahead of schedule, as is Fabian Washington. Webb did some backpedaling today.
Both players have said on the radio over the past few weeks that they're feeling good but it's great to hear the same from Harbaugh too.

Fabian appears to have a good shot at being ready Week 1 and I'd love it if Webb could somehow avoid the PUP list.

Great news, if Fab is ready by Week 1 and Webb isn't far behind we should be set. It'd be great if somehow Webb ended up ready for week 1, but I'm not counting on it. I feel we could swing the Jets game without him, if need be.

It's great to hear that they're ahead of schedule, but it's not worth rushing either guy back before they're "100%," especially Webb.

Theres a difference between feeling great and being back to normal. When I had my ACL surgery done, I felt great after 4 months or so post operation. But the amount of muscle that your leg loses hard to get back quickly. It really took me about a year and a half to start feeling like I was playing like I used to. Granted I didn't train quite as hard as Webb and Washington did. But realistically speaking, the best case senerio is that Webb and Washington play like they did last year. It'll be tough to imagine either one improving with the injury and with the mentality, and playing without fear again which is hard. But we don't need them to be amazing, if they play like they did last year we will be in business.

Agreed. We'll see how things play out but I see Foxworth fairing well against Edwards. It's Cotchery and Keller that need to be stopped.

Cotchery is a beast. Scheme him out with the veteran in Fisher and with either Carr or Fabe if he's back.

I have confidence in Ellerbe covering Keller.

If we get Webb back week 1, I doubt he would start. He will probably be a back up while they keep him off the knee either until the bye week or maybe the Pats game week 6.

I definitely feel like Washington will be ready to go during training camp. No sense in rushing Webb; he has his entire career in front of him; we don't need him to experience any more set backs.

from the sounds of BR it sounds like webb is rehabbing faster than washington and hes there working everyday so we would probally see him back before washington.

Unless something has drastically changed, Fabe should still be ahead of Webb. They both essentially had the same injury, and Fabian was injured (and started rehabbing) at least a few weeks before Webb. I would love it if Webb were back for the beginnning of the season, but Washington has been on pace for that all along.

Can somebody refresh my memory - did LW get hurt on a ST play or was it on defense? I know he's a great kick returner, but I don't think he should be returning kicks given he's an invaluable player on D when healthy.

He was injured on ST, specifically as a gunner if I remember right.

Webb got playing jammer during a punt return.(Link)

As for him returning kicks, I don't see him doing it any time soon.

It was on ST, but it was such a freak injury it could have happened at any time. He was kinda knocked backwards and tried to plant his foot; I guess he just landed a little akwardly, because his knee just buckled. Didn't look like your typical (nasty) knee injury.

if you read the article it kind of makes it seem that way but im not saying that i know that he is. I hoping that he will be back and ready week 1 but i would love to have him back week 2.

Which article is that? So far, I've only read this thread and the blip in the Sun (which only echoed what was said in this thread). It would be great to get Webb back ASAP; unfortunately, he won't really be playing to his full potential this season. If he stays healhty, 2011 could be a huge year for him.

If that's the case, then I don't think Webb is ahead of Fabian as far as rehab is concerned, although it does sound like he's catching up quickly.

As long as both Webb and Washington are back 100% before they play the Patriots is all I care about I'd really like to put a whoopin on them again. Especially since one of my friends is a Patriots fan. He's always talkin smack saying where's ur teams 6 other rings? Irritating things man I would jus like to shut him up for the year.

The Patriots only have 3 rings....

It's the steelers who have six.

And we whooped the pats severely in the playoffs last year so IDK how he can still be talking smack.

They're in Fort Knox, right next to the Spygate tapes Belichick used to win his (3) rings.
