2000 Titans Rivalry

29 posts in this topic

Those of u few that can rewatch the 2000 divisional game between the ravens and titans should do so. Crazy similar to the 08 season against the steelers except we win! Also really crazy seeing McNair, Mason and Rolle who are all pro bowlers playing against us in a brutaly physical playoff game. Like the steelers they where our division foe and we swept them . Titans where also the #1 seed with us being 1 of I believe 2 teams to beat them all year.

Check it out!! GO RAVENS

I haven't seen the full game itself but watching Ray tackle Eddie George face-up and then own him to seal the game is always fun.

We meet the Steelers a couple more times in the playoffs and win one and the rivalry will be just as epic. Ravens Titans imo is the best inter division rivalry in football.

Lol yeah watch the 2000 Americas game with Rays poetic description of that play (the strip) makes it even greater. Gaurentee it will make any ravens fan fuzzy inside haha

I really think the NFL missed the bus on this Rivalry. Though we have the Steelers, I really liked our Titans rivalry

Almost every part of the 2000 America's Game was great but Ray describing that play was my second favorite segment.

As for the Ravens-Titans rivalry, this video sums it up perfectly:

Agreed, the Titans Ravens rivalry was throwback 2 pure smash mouth teams. Just think how heated that Division playoff game was in 2008, and then imagine how MORE heated it woulda been with 7 more seasons of 2 games a season against each other.

I always thought the Ravens should have been in the AFCS with the Titian's, Jags and Dolphins/Texans/Chiefs.

I know that, but my preference would have been to be in the South.

For some reason I think it would have been a much nastier rivalry than us with the Steelers.

Like every Superhero needs a Supervillian, I think our rivalry has taken on a state of almost synchronicity, which in recent years has created a fire in which our two teams have been forged. We make each other better.

I wonder how the titans fans feel towards baltimore
A lot of people feel like we "stole" the Divisional playoff game from the 2008 season since they started the first half so well.

They can only blame Lendale White, Alge Crumpler and their own coaching staff for coughing the ball up and playing Marty ball, though. Of course, we had something to do with it, too, especially Jim Leonhard.

If I remember correctly, that video clip is from before the 2003 season playoff game?

Leonhard was literally involved in every big play that game.

A good amount of the clips are from '03's play-off game but I know one of them was one of Ray's nasty hits on George in 2000.

Ray stole Eddies soul 10 years ago, and Mendenhall's 2 years ago. That's just the nature of Ray's food chain.
He took Kellen Winslow Jr.'s in '08 too.

Cant stand Tennessee. Thought the whole towel stomping was kinda classless. Like my Ravens/Steelers rivalry more than Tennessee, one big reason for that is because at least Pittsburgh is a real challenge for us, year in/ year out.
Plus Pitts has gotten off to a head start in the W-L column against us. Time to start evening the score.

I do think it's strange how we target Tennessee's players. Mason, Rolle, McNair now Carr. It's actually wierd to think of Mase as a Titan now for me, and Rolle was on verge of adopted son as well.
But McNine will always be a Titan, and so will Carr (for different reasons  )

There tends to be a pattern with teams that trade. I guess once you find a trading partner that you are comfortable with you stick with what works. Maybe there is a lot less BS between the two during negotiations.

I don't get the comparison, but yeah, that was an amazing series of games. It's too bad the NFL broke up the rivalry, though I guess we were a better fit for the North.

The AFC North would be one of the toughest divisions in the league. Steelers, Ravens, Titans and Bengals?? I would kick out the Browns too but I don't know about kicking them out of the Titans, maybe Buffalo and I say Buffalo just because of how close they are in the North than the Browns or Titans.
