Need Tailgating Advice

8 posts in this topic

Hey Guys

My family and I are driving down from Canada this year to see the Denver game.

I want to give them the full game day experience i.e. tailgating.

Judging from the team website all the stadium lots are booked solid with a permit system.

Can anyone suggest some private lots that allow tailgating near the stadium that we can go to? Promimity is more important to me then cost.

Do any of the stadium lots let non-permit holders in if they get there early enough?

Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

There's loads of pay lots very near to the stadium. Someone will be along shorty with more details, no doubt. ;)

Last year J lot was pay per game, I'm not sure what the deal with it is this year, it was sold to the city for the Casino. Scroll Down You would have to get there between 9 and 10 am. This is the closest you will get to the stadium without stadium parking. You can set up a little grill, they have spotty potties. We actually used to tailgate there until last season and its by far my favorite place to tailgate.
Last I heard the casino's in the city were on hold but someone that lives in the city may know more.

Its not hard to make your own tailgate--bucket of chicken, subs, chips and a cooler of drinks

There are tons of "pay" lots all around the stadium lots. The one I use is 1 block away from the stadium lots on W. West street. You have to get there early though because they sell out quick. A lot of parties going on. Another option is "Ravens Walk" especially if you have children. Many vendors available here. Great food all around. Adult bevs available. Football throwing & catching games, face painting, music and so on.

Baltimore city firefighters do a really good tailgate--not sure if they are doing it this year as it is still early.

Thanks for tips.

I didn't realize there were so many private lots around the stadium that permitted tailgating. I'll make sure to get down there early.

Thanks again.

A lot of good comments above, especially Lot J, so I'll limit to how to find pay lots if you don't get there early. See the map at:

If you can't get into Lot J, just south of J, along Warner Street, there are pay lots in the old Camden Industrial Park, which does resemble a war zone, but it is a safe area to park & walk to the stadium. Alternatively, take Stockholm Street to the east of lot J, and turn right into a huge pay lot under the I-395 viaduct to your right, just before the 90 degree bend when it becomes Sharp Street. There is also close-in private lot under the I-395 viaduct, at the SW corner of the intersection of Sharp and Ostend Streets; this is perhaps the most expensive private lot, but also sometimes has spots up to game time as local fans find cheaper alternatives. Other more remote private lots are along Ostend Street, to the east of Sharp Street.

Picking up on the Eutaw Promenade comment above, if you have the opportunity, take the walk between the two stadiums. There are outdoor bar & grills with music, and many youngster oriented activities. Some out-of-town visitors park their vehicles in the cheaper downtown garages along the Pratt & Lombard corridor and, instead of tailgating, visit Harborplace food stalls at Light & Pratt and/or Eutaw Promenade.

Wow. Thanks alot Mod4. This will save me a whack of research. I'll check out Lot J first and if it's a "no go" I'll try some of the private lots you suggested.

You just saved me a big headache. Thanks again.
