Im debating left and right if I should get this game...it seems interesting and the collectors edition sounds like it has some nice extras....I have like 4-5 Ps3 games I havent touched tho.How hard are collectors editions to get down the line and what are the possibilites I can find it cheaper later on?

Alan Wake is a game based on a author who wakes up and seems to be in his latest novel as things are unravling like in the book from what I have read.

It depends on the game, really. I still find Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 and Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 CE's in Best Buy around here. I've been thinking about giving Alan Wake a try also. I'm a sucker for games like it.

It seems to me that games in the genre are very, very hit-or-miss. Resident Evil and Silent Hill are really the only two consistent series in it (and now RE's gone more action oriented than survival horror).

Yeah, after Code Veronica and Zero, Resident Evil just dropped that survivor horror feel. Don't get me wrong, 4 and 5 are good games, but I miss that Resident Evil horror feel. Part of RE's appeal to me was that feeling of dread you got when you had hordes of zombies coming after you, and you only have 5 bullets in your handgun. Four and Five did away with that, in lieu of you being able to fend off countless amounts of "majins" and "los ganados".

idk what you'd consider bioshock... but I thought of it as a survival game.... w/ some extremely creepy parts....

however bioshock 2 I didn't see so much as a survival but more as a GET TO THE CHOPPA! (and not die) type of game

Rent it, I've heard some bad reviews.

And I just read a very positive review: 8.5 out of 10.

to me, it looks like it is going to be rather short..... and quite possibly repetitive/annoying

you really can't go wrong w/ renting it.... if you hate it then you only wasted $5 if you love it, however you beat it w/in the rental time... then it saves you $55... if you love it, and didn't beat it... then that $5 would be a smarter investment

(I think I said it before) I like it's competition for this month though... I'm personally picking up Red Dead Redemption

I'll still give it a rent first, but from everything I've heard, it's turning out to look pretty solid.
