The Ravens Need To Go Back To The Old Helmet Logo

Yes, I know there are some legal issues involved, but the "B with Wings" is simply so much better than the raven's head we're using now. The old logo was a classic, the current one in LAME. Thoughts?

I definitely think a jersey "refresh" is in order. I like the style of the jersey numbers, as I believe they are unique to only the Ravens? I think they are the only team that uses that style of numbering.

But a redesign is something I have been awaiting. Nothing HUGE, just some styling here and there.

And as to the original poster... I like the Ravens head from the front (http://highpointravens.com/images/ravenslogo_1__9212.gif) much more than the one from the side. But I think a redesigned Ravens head wouldn't be a bad idea either. I, however, was not really too fond of the "B" with wings.

I have always hated the numbering style and I think a subtle wing motif like Oregon has on their shoulder pads could look awesome. Also, when Reed takes his helmet off the white straps fling to both sides but in some pictures it looks like thin arm piping and it looks great. Awhile ago we had a poster submit a Ravens uniform design to uniwatch and it looked really good (can somebody find the thread?). I agree they are due for an update but they may want to become one of those iconic teams who don't change the look. I disagree with this especially because there are so many cool things one can do with a Maryland Shield and a Ravens theme.

Even if there wasn't legal issues prohibiting it, I wasn't a fan of the Winged B, so I'll pass. I really don't see a "problem" with the Ravens head logo, couldn't imagine our logo being anything else.

I think a "refresh" would be cool too. I was thinking about this the other day, I kinda dig the Cardinals jersey style so I thought maybe I would create some Ravens jersey designs using that style.

I stayed true to everything that makes the current Ravens jerseys cool. The Shield, Font and B-logo on the pants.

I like the redesign of the uniform colors that RavenWarrior11 did, may be something to consider.

As for what started this thread...I love our current Raven logo and I would hate to see it changed. I'm not a fan of the older B with wings logo and I think the "Raven Profile" logo (as I call it) give us a bit more character.

If you guys remember, we used to wear purple jerseys and black pants at home in the early days with Ted Marchabroda. I really liked that combo and I think we should wear that 1st style helmet and uniform when we have a throw back day. It shows how far the helmet and organization has come. The black pants had a white stripe on them back in the day. Vinny Testaverde to Michael Jackson.

Technically we could have 6 uniforms in all.
1)white on white
2)black on white
3)purple on white
4)purple on black
5)black on black
6)white on black

Since I neglected the main topic of this thread, I'll add my 2 cents. I never really cared too much for the B-logo on helmets. Although the Spread-winged Raven was cool on the shoulders back then. Although I still have to admit that I like the Shield a tad bit more.

I don't like the shield+wings as a uniform piece of art. It is something nostalgic and pleasant for letterheads but I don't want to see the Ravens running around with it on their helmets.

I agree the B shield with wings sucked but if you removed the wings the shield would have looked classic , kinda of raidersesque
